Reusable vs Disposable

Sorry if this is a topic that's been covered a million times before.

I'm expecting my 1st baby in Oct and I'm starting to wonder what nappies I should be getting. I have no idea where to start .

I'm quite environmentally minded so I'm interested in reusables but I live in a small flat with no dryer so not sure how feasible it is. Would I be better off with an eco-friendly disposable nappy?

Also, what brands should I be looking at? There just seems to be so much to choose from.

I mean, by trial and error, is that what works for some people, doesn?t work for others.

Babycino doesn?t like Motherease but I do. No offence Babycino, it?s just that Tots Bots don?t fit my tall, skinny son very well, but the Motherease ones do, and I personally like poppers, especially now he?s older because he can undo the velco/aplix on my Minki nappies! But velco/aplix does get a more snug fit.

It?s what suits you and your family, and every person is different, and so too are babies!

thanks Bodkin - maybe I will try just putting pooey liners down the loo and rinse out the others - that is one thing that I won't suggest the nursery do though - that might tip them over the edge - lovely though they are.

Did anyone see the thread a while back about people who had been banned from selling cloth nappies on ebay because they counted as used underwear and there is a kinky market for the latter (though surely not the former!) v funny I thought!

I bung the liners in the washing machine with the nappies, they come out fine, maybe a litlle smaller.

sorry only skimmed but...have used motherease on ds since he was three weeks old, they are fab. i meant to line dry them all but after the wettest summer in history have ended up tumbledrying a lot. however if i wasnt so lazy could've managed without dryer - if you dont have a dryer, just buy a few more nappies so you dont run out if they take longer to dry than you expected - worth it given you are saving sooo much compared to buying disposables for two years. i got 20 which was plenty with a tumbledryer, washing every 2-3 days, a lot of nappy sites recommend 24.
also drying outside helps get rid of the yellow poo stains as the sun bleaches them!
worth using disposables for first few weeks especially as onesizefitsall kind seem a bit ginormous for newborn. we also still resort to them on holiday but tbh always glad to get back to the reusables, they leak less!
ps instead of buying nappy soaking solution, you can use a couple of drops of teatree oil, it's cheaper

I wash disposable liners when just wet too! Usually get about three or four washes before they fall apart.

try pocket nappies you can take the insert out so they would air dry on amaiden or a radiator quite quickly
