Newborn feeding and reflux

Hi all,
I have a nine week old with silent reflux but he just barely eats. He is supposed to be eating 700ml and it's a struggle to get 450 into him.
We have the tablet form of Omeprazole but I am really worried he is going to start to lose weight. He is only the 14th percentile now from 25th.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

@Junipajungle I've been there. My son was born on the 90th and is now on the 9th. He's had major issues with his kidneys so it's a very different situation to you but I'm well used to reflux and Omeprazole.

450ml doesn't sound like a lot, and Omeprazole does help their tummy. Another thing you could try is different bottles, we ended up on MAM which seemed to help a little with our sons reflux, keeping him propped up a bit too so that the acids stay down and don't come up the esophagus can reduce the discomfort. There are also different formulas you can try.

Mums know best, and what I've learned over the last few years is that I should trust myself if something feels wrong take him to see the GP.

@kidneychaos thank you. It’s such a worry. How did you give the Omeprazole? I have a friend who has the liquid and I am wondering whether it’s better than the tablet dissolved in water? Also - did you give just before a feed or on an empty stomach?
Hope your son is okay x

My son was put on Losec, so it might be a different Omeprazole than yours, plus he has ongoing health concerns so I'll share what we did but it might be different to what your GP recommends.

We had to break a tablet in half and mix it with a little water to dissolve it (twice a day am & pm). We popped 1/2 a tablet into an oral syringe and added 5-10ml of water to dissolve it. It won't completely dissolve but it will break down a bit. We tended to give it 30 mins before a feed or 2 hours after, so the tummy was less full.

Our son is doing as well as can be, for now. Thank you for asking
