10 month old routine

My health visitor has gave me advice on cutting back on baby milk this was at around 8 month. I didn't take her advise as I didn't think my daughter was ready. Now coming up for ten months old next week I now feel like she's ready to cut back on baby milk. She has three meals a day. Not big ones. She had full fat milk in her breakfast and if I cook cheese sauce etc. She also had full fat yogurt at least once a day. She's currently one 3 bottles per day. One first thing in the morning around 150/90ml she has lunch at 12pm then another bottle at 1:30 around 120ml and then dinner at 4:30 followed by a bedtime bottle before bed at 6/615pm. She's not fed during the night she sleeping right through till morning occasionally waken up for dummy. I'd just like to see what others are feeding baby's at this age and any advise on cutting baby milk down and which bottle to do this. I know every baby is different so what may work for one might not work for others. Thanks in advance x

How much milk is she having in total? I wouldn't cut it if it's around the 20oz/600ml mark as that's what's advised up to 1 year. It was the daytime ones that went first leaving the AM and PM ones. I replaced with a snack and drink of water

I think you are right to start reducing her milk intake now. At this age she only needs 400 ml a day, the rest of her nutrients should be coming from food. Have a look at this guide from the Caroline Walker Trust. You’ll probably need from page 77 Smile

OPs dd is having 3 quite small bottles of milk so may not be much over 400mls already. NHS says 20oz for this age group I think

Looks like advice may have changed but then if they have less than 500mls they're supposed to supplement with extra vitamins.

As a guide, babies fed infant formula will drink about 400ml daily

Remember that formula-fed babies should take avitamin D supplementif they're having less than 500ml of formula a day.

She's having around 480ml a day. I have the best start vitamin drops I give her in her breakfast as they say for babies having less than 500ml of baby milk per day. When they go on to cows milk do u just take them straight off baby milk and replace with cows milk or do you wean them slowly off it when they are reaching 1? I read people giving cows milk from 9months. What's best bottle then breakfast of breakfast then bottle sorry for all the questions 😅 x

I mixed cow milk and formula for about 4 weeks but thats because my lo was on anti reflux milk and i was worried he would be sick again. My health visitor told me off for starting full fat 1 week before his 1st birthday lol.

Take HV advice with a pinch of salt.
If she's happy and a normal weight I wouldn't change a thing. She's sleeping through and I would do anything to get my 10 month old to sleep through.
He has around the same amount of bottles but they are through the night. He's not interested in the day.

If isn't broke don't try to fix it.

nicT19 · 10/02/2020 17:54

@lottieskeeper true enough, I'm just going leave her the way she is for now. If she doesn't want they milk she won't take it. She's a healthy little girl and she loves her food so I'm guessing we're going in the right direction. Thanks for advice x

At 10 months we did bottle then breakfast about an hour later. I cut down the day time bottles but reducing how much was in it over a week and offering it with a snack rather than just cut it out completely.
Also I waited until DD was one then swapped the morning bottle to cows milk and evening one a few days later; she didn’t notice at all.
