Smelly boy bits when changing nappy

Sorry maybe tmi - I have a 2 week old baby boy and have noticed when I am changing him he has white gunk in the creases of his legs and under his willy and balls. I am cleaning it thoroughly each time with a wipe but just wondered if it was normal as I have nothing to compare to.

Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong or if it is normal? I have changed to reusable wipes that seem to have helped take it off but worried it's not got enough cleaning stuff as they only use essential oils.

Scared to ask my mum or friends incase I am doing something wrong and they judge me 🤣🙈

Hi I have a little boy and I never had this issue, could it be the nappy ointment congealing ? I used warm water and cotton wool for the first couple of months so not sure you need any other cleaning agents I would poss consider getting health visitor to have a look and see what they think ... Congratulations by the way

I've had 4 chubby babies and they all had smelly white gunk, mainly in the neck creases but also the leg creases. It was a fungal thing and some cream from the doctors (Dactacort?) cleared it up quickly.

Which nappy cream are you using? Have you tried changing it?

Is it just vernix? Has it always been there or is it new?

I always give my DS a good wipe with some warm water every morning and evening (if he's not having a bath). I wouldn't use an essential oils on a little one - just water and the cloth will be enough to clean them. It might be worth a check with the GP incase it is fungal.
