Night Time Heavy Wetters

Hello There

Sorry if I'm covering an old topic but I'm new here and I'm a bit at my wits end on this.

I have a 28lb 14 month old who sleeps through 13+ hours a night. For the past few weeks his nappies are not going the distance and he is wet through in the morning. Some days his bedding is wet too.

I've tried limiting his evening fluids, changing nappy brands and sizes, and even the nappy position but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? As the weather worsens it's getting tricky to get the increased washing dry!

All suggestions gratefully received.

Do you use disposable or washable nappies?

Mummymonster · 01/10/2004 20:04

I'm afraid I copped out and took the disposible option but I'm prepared to explore cloth ones it it is a solution. Hell I'm washing enough clothes, a couple of nappies wont increase the burden!

We has the same problem exactly - big toddler, heavy wetter

the only thing that works for us (he is 2 now and this still applies) is huggies nappies (the orange pack size L+). put clean one on before bed time then another clean one on before we go to bed
never leaks this way but always does with any other combination

I was going to suggest putting booster pads in the nappies if they were washables, but I don't see why you couldn't put them inside reusables as well.

sorry to be thick here but as I had no guidance on cloth nappies at all.........where do I get hold of the booster pads and the like?

I tried booster pads in other brands of disposables and it didnt help much - still wet most nights....

the only thing that works fr us is putting on a clean nappy at around 10pm......

Having used both I think washable ones are the best tbh.
I got mine from The nappy lady . If you fill in the form I have linked to, they will reply with tailor made advice fitting the criteria you have requested. Free service. They also have great advisors, who will spend ages (if the others are like mine) talking to you about their products. They seem to have tested everything they sell. Booster pads are extra thick cloth pads which go inside the nappy for nighttime, when heavy wetting may be a problem. I would have a look at theor site, fill in the form and see what they say. Washables are expensive initially, but they last ages, and save loads in the long run. Hth.

Hi Folks.......Back again

Thanks for the tips. I obtained a larger size of (sorry)disposibles (Tesco own brand 4+) and put them on a little looser and........sucess! 2 dry nights so fingers crossed for a few more.

Thanks for all the tips

I know this is an old thread, but I have only just read it. Mummymonster, can I ask whether it was Pampers Dry that you used, because I found them brilliant until they changed mid September to the "New Improved" design, and then DD1 was waking up wet through, with wet sheets. It took me a while to twig that it was the change of design, and it was only when a couple of friends and I were discussing it and we realised the connection.

Michellep - we also found that the new Pampers were not as good! We have changed for DS (5 months) to Pampers Active Fit which seem a lot better. For DD, who is nearly 3 but still has nighttime nappy, we now use a pull up and allow no drinks after about 5.30pm (bed time is 7pm).

AuntyQuated · 24/10/2004 21:10

we used to put 2 on ds, a bigger size over the top.

Isn't it annoying though when they mess with a perfectly good design!!
