Dinner ideas for my 9 month old toothless baby please!

My little boy is 9 months old and finally just starting to cut his first tooth, a top one!!
I feel like other babies we know around the same age are able to explore so many more foods due to having teeth and being able to chew things I get stuck on what to feed him every day to give him different tastes, anyone have any ideas for me please?

They can chew an awful lot with no teeth! Those gums are hard.

My son ate normal meals with us from 6 months. He only got teeth at 15 months. You're overthinking it.

He doesn't need teeth to chew. Pasta, bolognaise, curry, stews, fish...

Toothless babies aren’t the same as toothless adults, the teeth are there underneath the gums so you’d be surprised what they can chew!

My favourite at the moment are little egg muffin/omelette type things made in muffin tins. Easy to chew!

Have you ever been bitten by a toothless baby?! Their lack of teeth isn't an issue!

Just mash/cut up small whatever you are eating.

Little veg fritters are good - pea, grated courgette, grated carrot, grated beetroot, etc. Ditto Spanish omelette.

Soft stew like ratatouille.

I used to make my daughter lentil and spinach soup quite a lot - with a bit of garlic, cumin and lemon juice. When she became a spoon refuser I put it on toast instead.

Fishcakes made with mashed potato and some drained tinned salmon (in water, not brine)

All quite manageable with gums.

Hope that helps.

Just give him what you are eating (unless it's particularly hard or easy to choke on!)

@Drizzzle

When people say give what you’re eating ...isn’t our food more salty ? Or does it not matter as much as there getting bigger ? x

crustycrab · 03/02/2020 16:26

Don't add salt to food

missjaysays · 03/02/2020 16:43

@sh13 obviously just don't add salt to their portion! Dish theirs up first, gives it chance to cool while you season and dish the rest up.

I found the Annabel Karmel app quite useful for a few ideas

Drizzzle · 03/02/2020 18:05

Sorry, you are right, no salt. I never add salt when I cook though so I forgot about that!
