Struggling with the thought of someone else bottle feeding baby

Me and my husband are going to help some friends move tomorrow and my mother in law, who is lovely, and is coming to look after my son for a couple of hours it's the first time we've left him alone and I'm struggling with that and the thought of someone else bottle feeding him as we had kept the feeding as just us so far. It seems like such a silly thing but I'm finding it hard to deal with.

I can totally get that OP but he will be fine. How old is he?

AmelieTaylor · 31/01/2020 17:21

Aww bless. I understand how you feel, but babies & children have the capacity to love many people and it doesn’t detract from how much they need or love you, try to look at it as DS starting to build a relationship with someone else that will love & support him.

Alternatively send DH for more hours & you stay home 🤣

Be careful what you’re lifting/doing - your body is still very much recovering!

Oh OP I totally understand. I planned to breast feed my daughter and it didn't happen for us. I absolutely hated the thought of anyone else feeding her. No helpful tips really just wanted you to know you aren't alone.

I wouldn't be helping friends move if I had a ten week old baby. I injured my back moving house when DD was little, no way would I risk it for someone else!

DivGirl · 31/01/2020 20:33

I wouldn't be helping someone move house 10 weeks pp either. But I didn't leave DS with anyone until about 5 months.

Different strokes for different folks. Your wee one will be absolutely fine.

I get this, DD is 9 weeks old, but was prem, massive surgery at a week old and has reflux. I dont like anyone except me and DH feeding her. My mum does which im okay with but DD has projectile vomited on her twice in two days so dont think shes so keen atm🤣 i cant remember if i was like this with our 1st or not aswell.

Hope it goes ok for you today. Agree that you are being brave belong out with a 10 week old, especially as you had a c-section.

Take it easy today and if you find it too much being away from LO, it's absolutely fine to go back home Thanks
