How long before dry at night?

My ds1 is totally potty trained during the day and last weekend announced he didn't want to wear a nappy at night. Great I thought, however 1st night he was dry the rest of the week wet except wednesday and last night just a small wet patch. (thank god for waterproof mattress covers!!!)

My mum reckons kids should be dry at night by 3years, ds1 is 2.8 I think he's doing really well but reading down some threads some opinions are that they just stop wetting at night overnight. If I decide for him to put nappy back on I know we'll be in for a battle as he hates wearing them. He does call out in the mornings and I find him sitting on the potty in his room, its just a bit late by then!

Keep going or back to nappies?

DD3is nearly 4 and she is still in nappies at night. Don't listen to your mum. Go at the pace of your ds, he'll train when ready.
Trying to hurry him would cause stress for you both.
Grandmothers have some strange notions don't they?
I put mine in super absorbant towling pants called 'bright bots' they can soak up a lot of wee and the child knows they have wet, they look cool too!!

DD was a few days. DS was 18 months.

DD1 trained at Easter for daytime, but is still in nappies at night. She is 3.1yrs

Im not going to push her, she has had 2 dry nights in the last week (well nappy was dry iykwim) so we are just going to keep an eye on it!

Hmmm, mixed answers so still not sure. I think I'll stick with it for now and if no signs of drying up will try the pants though I fear he may still not like them! Thanks though for your replies
