My little one started at the child minders last week and today his nan picked him up, he's not been too well and had an explosive poo which is quite unusual for a 12 months old toddler or at least he hasn't had one for a long time, so when I got him ready for his bath, his bum was completely red including the cheeks and if they had changed him straight away, his bum would not look like this. He's never looked like this since he was born. I'm attaching a photo.

Should I raise it with them? Change childminders? Am I overreacting?

It makes me feel really sad as I believe he should be changed ASAP after having had a poo?

They are co-childminders, so it's two of them there at all times, so it's not like they wouldn't be able to do it.

I don’t think the photograph is appropriate as this is a completely open, public forum.

Discuss the rash with the nursery themselves.

I spoke to them and they did say that she noticed when he woke up from his nap and he had a 1h45m nap, so I don't think anyone meant to leave him in his poo, it was just unfortunate.

I've asked mumsnet to take the picture off - didn't think when I was in the state that I was in.

Thanks everyone for your messages & have a good evening x

Oh bless him.
My son has had a bit of a red bum after an explosive poo once. I think he must have been in it for an hour as he was napping. Horrible to see though Sad

This happened to my 2yo neice recently; she can't have been left in it for more than fifteen mins but her wee bum was red raw. Bizarrely she was fine running about in it, it was only when DSis started cleaning her up that she started showing any sign of discomfort.

I wouldn't blame them for the rash but I would expect an "FYI he's had a dicky tummy today and his bum is looking a bit sore" on pickup.

No you're right, I think I do find it hard to trust people at times & my "accusation" was unfounded and unreasonable. I chose them two because I knew he'd be happy there. I feel silly now for thinking the way I did

@Firstimemam please don't feel silly it's your baby and of course you will be worried about him it would be strange if you weren't. I hope he hasn't had too many more bad nappies as it can be awful when they get a succession of them as the nappy rash can get awful
