Where does your baby sleep?

Where does your baby / toddler sleep when they're unwell? DS is 20 months & has recently moved into his own room. He has had a cold / cough & now has a fever of 38.7.

Anyway basically I've always had him next to me whenever he's been poorly before - so how does it work with him in another room? Him having a cold and sleeping in his bedroom hasn't bothered me but with a high temperature it feels a little uncomfortable. Do I bring him into our bedroom?

He is PFB so please forgive me if I sound paranoid & insane. GrinBlush

I've always just left mine in their own bed when unwell unless very unsettled needing lots of contact to stay asleep. Then in with us.

DesLynamsMoustache · 23/01/2020 19:24

There's a spare bed in DD's room so I sleep in with her if she's not well and I'm not comfortable her being in there alone.

In my bed always Grin My older DD slept with me until she was nearly two and then we moved her into a small double so there is enough space for one of us.

Mines only 11 months and stays in her own bed when she’s unwell.

If she’s particularly bad I will sleep in her room though, on the floor next to her cot...

I would happily cosleep but 19m ds has different ideas! If hes poorly I sleep on a camping mattress with a duvet on his floor.

Sorry, what does PBF mean? I'm still getting used to the MN lingo

Thank you all. DS stayed in his cot & seems a bit better this morning.

We co-slept from newborn - 14 months, so I didn't want to bring him back into bed unnecessarily as it would probably become a habit! Will see how he is tonight.

usually my husband or I will pitch up in DD's room on the floor- they like having us there when sick. We have tried bringing her into our bed...doesn't work more often than it does. Find she is more wriggly when in with us and doesn't sleep well. In the day when ill sleeps on us-literally!

benandhollyagaaain · 24/01/2020 13:43

Mine prefers her own bed when she's unwell. I do check on her regularly if she has a temperature though

mindutopia · 24/01/2020 14:17

Mine have always slept with us if they want to. We have a big family bed. Both dc sleep all night in their own rooms generally, but youngest (2) will definitely sleep with us if poorly, if he wants.

DefConOne · 24/01/2020 14:28

DD1 preferred to be alone in her own bed. DD2 came in with me when I’ll or teething and DH slept in her bed. Anything for an easy life and maximum sleep.

Caterina99 · 24/01/2020 20:32

Mine have always just been in their own beds. I may have sat on the floor next to them, or sat in my DS single bed, to help them settle, but they’ve never slept in our bed at night, nor me in their bed.

My DD is just turned 2 and still in her cot. We still have the rocking chair in her room though, so if she’s unsettled we might sit and rock her on the chair and let her nap on us.

Our bedrooms are v close together though. I think that helps
