Peeing in the bath

Would you end/restart the bath if your toddler peed the minute they went in? My DD is 18 months and she quite often walks around in the bath moving toys etc and on several occasions I've seen her weeing. I have then taken her out and rerun the bath but this usually results in a tantrum and spoils it. I read conflicting advice online about whether it's even a problem. Any thoughts?

We managed to stop our toddler weeing in bath/shower by putting him on toilet trainer seat before hand. At first we had to have water running but now he jumps on the toilet and has a wee then gets in.
Maybe worth a try?!

We actually used weeing in the bath to teach our DS about how to control his wee, like a pp said it’s hard for them to make the connection in nappies. He loves doing it at the start of every bath! It’s a tiny amount and wee is sterile anyway.

No. I have two toddlers that get in the bath together. They think it's hilarious to wee as soon as they get in. They both then swim and gargle around in it for about it half an hour. It's a bit grim from an adults perspective but they seem to have survived so far. I have started making the baths deeper though to dilute it a bit more.

I sometimes use my DDs bath water if it’s still warm and it’s always hit and miss if she’s done a wee if it. Little sod never tells me until it’s too late.

I would imagine 99.9% of all baths ever taken but small children have been wee’d.

bobstersmum · 22/01/2020 20:11

You don't use public swimming baths then op?

ColouredPolkaDots · 22/01/2020 20:56

When my pelvic floor was a month post traumatic birth, I sneezed in the bath and peed. I still didn't re-run it!

@BertieBotts As I said in my OP, I've only ever done it a couple of times when she's peed standing up so that's how I've known

@bobstersmum No, I don't

I hope this is a genuine thread pps - no pun intended.

I saw that, I just wondered about all the times they must do it when sitting in the water :)

PixieDustt · 23/01/2020 08:12

No. DS wees in the bath each time. It's like he has a personal target (always looks like he is aiming for something!).
Waste of water to run it all again anyway.

NotYourHun · 23/01/2020 08:19

... I wee in the bath Grin

This is why I knew I was being ridiculous but at the same time hearing the internal critic saying 'if you KNOW she's peeing in the bath then you should do something'

It's just me doubting myself and needing reassured

@BBInSleepsCounting what on earth would make you think it wasn't?

The solution is to sit them on the potty before putting them in the bath surely? 3yo DD has never to my knowledge pissed in the bath, and always asks to get out if she needs one.

username00 · 23/01/2020 13:27

@nocluewhattodoo I actually did this and she did a wee in the potty and I was amazed! Tried it the next few times and she refused to sit on it and then started having a meltdown so I left it after that. Maybe try that again in a month or so as I don't want to put her off the potty for future
