7 year olds weight and food

My DS is 7, he weighs around 6stone, he isn't huge but he's chubby quite tall.
He does karate outside of school but doesn't really do any other exercise except P.E in school,
I'm worried about him ending up 'big' growing up and don't want him to be bullied.
I am in slimming world so all my meals are a healthy but he just won't touch healthy food.
It's easier to say what he does like than what he doesn't, he likes banana, orange, apple and grapes, this is the only healthy food he will touch and that's only if I bribe him to eat it!
He will only eat beige rubbish, waffles, mash, chips, nuggets, Kiev's, garlic bread, pizza, beans and burgers.
I feel like I'm failing as a mum! I really try to introduce things, he used to love carrots until he was 3 then he just stopped eating anything healthy I gave him.
I've tried hidden veg pasta sauce but he will rarely eat pasta, cauliflower cheese, hidden a tiny piece of lettuce in his sandwich and he found it!
What can I do? I've tried getting him to help make it, asked him to try some of my food on my plate,
If I said here you go eat it or nothing he will eat nothing 😭

Honestly, I would stop pandering to him. Serve what you want to serve and if he doesn't like it, well, he'll be a little bit hungrier that evening.

Perhaps do area one night a week you'll know he'll like but other than that, just give him family food and not beige crap Smile

You might find this guide from the Caroline Walker Trust helpful too Smile

Karate and PE don't sound like quiet enough exercise either. Does he walk to school oneday? Could he do any other activities at school or out of school? Maybe Cubs, Swimming Lessons, Hockey or Cricket?

Thank you I think I am going to have to do that, we do walk to and from school every day but it is literally a 5 minute walk, I have been think about swimming lessons so maybe give that a try too thank you for your help

He will only eat beige rubbish, waffles, mash, chips, nuggets, Kiev's, garlic bread, pizza, beans and burgers.

These things are all fine in moderation, but I would try and serve a little of them with the rest of the plate filled with something healthy.

Eg give him the kiev and a small serving of mash, and then fill the rest of the plate with veg. Even if he doesn't touch the veg at least he's getting less of the beige. Same with the pizza, give him half and then fill the rest of the plate with some child-friendly salad like cherry tomatoes, cucumber, sweetcorn etc.

If this doesn't work, then I'd just give him the smaller servings anyway, even without the veg/salad.

Very much like Slimming World and how you fill your plate with speed food :)

That's a really good idea! Thank you so much
