Broccoli

My baby is 6 months old and started weaning her over the last couple of weeks. I want to give her broccoli (pureed) but I've read a couple of things online that you should wait until 8 months..the NHS website says it's fine to give it at 6 months but others have said to wait as it's hard to digest.
Can anyone advise if they gave their babies it at 6 months?

Yes it's fine from 6 months. You could give it as a floret as well as pureed

I'd have thought it would be fine pureed as the fibres will be broken down so it shouldn't be difficult to digest. You could just give her a tiny bit and see how it goes. It's a long time ago now, but I'm sure I was giving broccoli to mine at that age. They had every vegetable going as babies - then went off them as toddlers

A floret of broccoli was the first thing I gave DS at 6 months, whole, no need to purée! (Just make sure it's cooked til soft.) no repercussions, to be honest they eat so little to begin with it's more to have fun trying putting things in their mouths.

I made some broccoli rice and just gave it to 6 month dd just like that and she loved it, came out the other end rather quickly as well, it can make them windy etc but she seemed fine, maybe avoid feeding in big amounts until they’re ready for it, I only gave dd a few spoonfuls

Thanks all.
I tried her with it. She didn't want any of it 😫 but I don't think it was because she didn't like it. She's teething and has been in pain last couple of days. I tried to give her baby rice and banana yesterday, both things she has ate a number of times and likes, and she refused that too. Poor baby, hate seeing her like this 😔

I'd always go by the NHS website OP, there are sone real cranks on the internet when it comes to feeding babies Smile

The weaning section on MN is useful too Smile

If she is teething, try offering her chunks of cool cucumber, a frozen banana or a cool clean wet flannel to chew on.

You can feed them everything from 6 months with the exception of honey and whole nuts, although I’d avoid anything particularly salty too. You also don’t need to purée anything if you do baby led weaning although you might choose to do traditional weaning where you puree and spoon feed. My youngest dc gets a plate of whatever the rest of us are having for dinner most nights and eats it as ginger food although she’s getting the hang of a spoon for food that needs one.
