30 free hours can someone please explain??

Hi

Hopefully someone will be able to help me understand!! My husband and I have a joint income of £96k and some property investments which means the take home income including this would push us over the £100k mark. Would we still be entitled to the 30hrs/15hrs free childcare when my ds turns 3?

I understand that it's term time only so equates to around 20hrs per week. I just can't work out who's entitled or not!

15 free hours is for everyone regardless of income

I think the 100k may be each not combined income

Well every child is entitled to 15 hours regardless of parental income. Whether you qualify for 30 hours I'm afraid I don't know.

Have you deducted pension contributions, and added any benefits in kind? It’s also if one of you has income over £100k, not jointly.

As above - yes to the 15 hours.

It's under 100k each to qualify for the 30 hours.

You can up your pension contributions to bring the number under 100k.

You should be entitled to 30 hours if both work and earn less than 100k each. Yes it is term time only but every nursery/provider works it differently. Ours works out at c. 2 and a bit free days a week all year round. However, they add extras onto that, ie that doesn't include food, so there is a relatively small charge on top. We paid a similar amount for my dd at 2.5 days a week with the 30 hours as we did when she had 1 day a week before she was 3. You have to reconfirm every 3 months online.
