Newb question about pull ups

I just can't get on with them. DS is almost 2 so we want to start potty training in the near distant future so thought it was better to switch to pull ups so he can get the feel of something a bit more similar to pants.

I've tried sainsburys, asda and aldi and they are all shit, they all leak at night at I don 't get how you're supposed to wrap them for disposal?

Can anyone recommend some decent ones?

Don't use them at night. Keep on using proper nappies until DC is dry at night. Not sure what you mean about disposal. Just put them in a nappy bag or nappy bin.

For potty training you really don’t want him to have nappies similar to pants.

For wrapping pull ups there is a little sticky tab at the back that you use.

Beseen19 · 10/01/2020 12:37

I always used lidl as DS is super skinny and they fit better than proper nappies, very stretchy at the side he was size 5 when I potty trained him but if I remember correctly they dont do the 5+ with the higher absorbancy. They are not as absorbent so would just use asda normal nappies at night in the higher absorbancy. The lidls pull ups have a little tab at the back so you can roll them up.

You are better off sticking with normal nappies until they are ready for potty training, pull ups may look vaguely like pants but once the child is wearing them and has clothes over the top, they feel exactly like nappies. I never use them with the children I look after and they manage to potty train ok.

TobyeBella · 10/01/2020 12:40

Dont use them at night, use normal nappies. We just used pull ups in the day as it was easier if they were stood up.

Also for potty training, they're still nappies so its unlikely to help in that respect.

Like pp said, sticky tab to wrap them up.

scaredyscared1114 · 10/01/2020 12:43

Everyone is saying sticky tabs but I can't for the life of me see any... am I being thick?

Pull ups aren't for potty training. They are for toddlers who refuse to lie down :)

There is a list of "stages" in the book oh crap potty training which is worth a look apparently.

Chefwifelife · 10/01/2020 12:45

My DS decided he wanted to use the potty just before his 2nd Birthday. We did as others have mentioned and used normal nappies at nap time and bed time and then pants in the day. He now has pull ups at night (just for ease) but he totally just sees it as another nappy rather than there being a difference with a pull-up. We also use Lidl on our now 2.5 slim chap and I think they're good quality and never leak.

BertieBotts · 10/01/2020 12:46

Not all brands havethe sticky tab. If it's there it's on the bum part and looks like the end of a roll of tape when it's new.

radioband · 10/01/2020 12:48

Pampers super absorbent ones, the only one I've found not to leak!!

stuffingball · 10/01/2020 12:53

Sainsbos and ASDA ones are shit. Lidl ones are the best I've found

Taddda · 10/01/2020 12:58

Pampers premium pull ups also here, my two dd's never got on with nappies when they both went on the move, so been using pullups since they were both around 6 months- these seem the most comfy and absorbent

lyingwanker · 10/01/2020 13:36

I don't like pull ups either. Not in place of regular nappies anyway. I use them for night times for my 4 year old because she prefers it and also at that age they're easier to get on and off. I only ever buy Pampers because others I've tried either leak, expand a lot more or smell once wee is in them.

My son is 2.5 and getting ready for potty training. I still use regular nappies and will for a while yet

Taddda · 10/01/2020 19:59

With my Dd's now that they're both on the move, regular nappies were a nightmare to keep on! One of the sticky tabs would always get bunched up or move to the leg whilst they're cruising or crawling, pull ups have always seemed much more comfortable for them, and stay on-
