She just came over to me and said "Poo Poo" and so I took her to the toilet and she did a poo. She has a potty trained older sister, so she sees her using the toilet a lot, and a few times now we have "caught" the situation and had DD#2 sit on the toilet and she has then continued to poo, but I was certainly not expecting this sort of step forward just yet. We have barely played with using the toilet with her really!

So - any advice from here? I am not that keen to push her as I certainly don't have any expectations at her age but if she is going to be an early out of nappies kids then I will be !

I am one proud mummy today!

well I would cover her from head to foot with stickers and chocolate buttons

You could get her a potty and sit her on it when her big sister uses the toilet? Mine loving crapping together

I would just praise her and encourage a bit more potty use by giving her the opportunity to use it - e.g. you could have it in the bathroom and suggest she sit on it when you change her nappy and go with the flow (as it were)

Let her have some nappy free time at home and just see how she copes.

I nearly started this thread 2 days ago. Dd (also 17 mths) said wee and pointed to the toilet when we took her nappy off at bathtime - and promptly weed in the toilet. Have to say that for the last couple of days she's just waited til we turn our backs & wees on the floor instead

Hadn't thought about doing anything about it til she repeated things but mayb I'll look the potty out ... hmmmm

my first was well into potty-use by 18 months and in pants by 22 months

My second is 22 months and had her first day in pants today - I had one wee accident! (not me personally, you understand) - the rest of the time she asked before she needed to go - I think she will be ready to be a full-time pant-wearer pretty soon!

get out those potties - DO NOT FEAR THE POTTY!

(actually I have had her in pants before today especially around my house and the garden but today was the First Full Day)

I think I will try a little nappy free time when we are home and see how things go - especially if we can get in the garden.

Great to hear others have had early trainers too - there is a life without nappies ahead

Oh and she was smothered in kisses and smiles and claps, and looked most terribly pleased with herself!

Yeah for your daughter Yeah for one less pooey nappy to clean up (and if you are lucky) one of the last ones you'll ever have to clean.

We have offered the potty/toilet to our DD from being 10 weeks old and now at a year she is in real pants during the day and signs BSL sign for 'toilet' when she wants to go wee.

Nappy off time really helps and communal toilet times are helpful too. My DD used to use the potty whilst I used the toilet...but recently she wants to use the big toilet like mummy. So I jump around the bathroom with crossed legs whilst she plays with the toilet paper etc before she finishes and lets me go. Maybe I should start using the potty in the morning ?

Ds started using the toilet to pee last week unexpectedly. I had a thread similar to this as I don't want to push him, especially as no. 2 is due in 5 weeks and the idea of trying to toilet train and deal with a newborn is scary... Here's my thread with people's comments for what it is worth...
