Travelling with a 14 week old. Help!

Hi all.
I am British but currently live in Dubai. I am.planning my 1st trip home with my currently 12 week old but he will be 14 weeks old when we fly.
I have a Bugaboo Camelon which I love but not sure of the practicalities of travelling with it. I am flying to London and spending 3 days there and then getting the train to Edinburgh (where my parents live) nd spending 2 weeks there. I think the Bugaboo will be good for pavements and on buses and cobbles etc.
I also have a Babyzen yoyo with the newborn attachment but it seems too flimsy for Scottish streets! But j would be able to take it through the airport.
I assume with the Bugaboo I would check it in and then not see it again.
Or do I take both?

Also, what do I do with my baby on the train!? Such a stupid question but there won't be room for him to stay in the buggy. Does he sleep/lie on me for 5 hours?

Thanks all!

Oh finally, any travel cot recommendations?

You need to get a sling for this journey.

Yes - take one buggy, you'll need the baby out of the buggy on the train and yep on you (try flying to Australia with a big 20 month old). Not familiar with newer travel cots but ease of setting up crucial and decent depth mattress.

Is the bugaboo not suitable for overnight sleeping?

We have an Uppa baby vista and have travelled abroad with it, we bought a travel bag to check it in then used a baby carrier around the airport. I think buggies are not as comfortable for such a young baby, so I would take the Bugaboo. The baby could then also sleep in the bassinet section of the pram whilst you are away maybe.

I would take the babyzen and a sling, buy one in London if you can't easily get one you like in Dubai. If it was me, I would definitely fly rather than take the train to Edinburgh, but if you are planning to train it, I would see if you can check the pushchair (is that even an option?). Otherwise, it will be out of your site for the journey parked out in the space between carriages unless there is a lot of luggage space and it will fit. I hate taking pushchairs on a train as it can be a real pain and I always worry someone will steal it.

You can usually check 2 baby items (pushchair and a carseat on the plane). Will you be bringing a car seat? It may actually be a really helpful place to set baby down on the train so you can have your hands free. It should fit in a spare seat. Otherwise, yes, you'll have to hold him. Pack a change of clothes (or 2) for both baby and you for the plane in your carry on. And lots of nappies. Are you bf or ff? Bf is easy on a plane (and a train), but obviously if you are bottle feeding, it will take a bit more planning.

Also, you should be able to take any pushchair to the gate to be checked with you (it then comes out in baggage claim though), but especially with a tiny baby, it's so much easier with a sling. I travelled alone with my then 8 month old and I would always check the pushchair at check in and take him in a sling.

Oh, and get a pushchair bag, especially if you are travelling with an expensive one and possibly consider what insurance you have in case it gets broken.
