Double Pram Recommendations

Hi! DH and I have just found out that we are expecting baby number 2 in August, meaning there will be 13 months age gap between DD1 & DC2. I have been looking at forums for double pram recommendations, side by side, tandem? We need a pram that both babies can lie flat in so not sure if that means a tandem is a no?? Don’t use public transport and have a good sized boot in car. Would love your recommendations.

My age gap was just slightly older at 15 months when DD was born. We have a cosatto xl wow. It's a tandem because our hall way is too narrow for side by side. It's fantastic. Oh can have two carry cots on of you needed them to lie flat but surely your 13 month old is on a proper upright seat now?

I liked it because you can configure the seats in lots of different ways

My first age gap is 13m and I got a bugaboo donkey. It was great specially when we went out shopping as it fitted through shop doors. My best friend has exactly the same age gap and she had a City jogger and she can't use public transport nor can she fit in shop doors 🤣
I used thecarry cot for my newborn the my DS had the other side- it lay back but didn't lie completely flat . It's been on 3 holidays abroad and numerous weekends away it is honestly great an if I only have 1 (others at school) it pushes into a single. Their 2-3 now an iv just had another so newborn an 2 Yo will go into the double but I have a new single for when it's just me an bubs!! Xxx

I’ve got the silvercross wave which is tandem and can have 2 carrycots or 2 seats (which lie flat for naps) or a combination.

Haven’t actually used it yet but hoping it works well for us

Thanks for replying! I’ll have a look. Yes our daughter is in the seat part of her pram just now, which also lies flat, I’ve seen some tandems 2nd seat doesn’t lie flat, and I would prefer if she could if she falls asleep as 13 months is still young and I wouldn’t want her to be upright all the time. How did you find the age gap? Any hints/tips would be really appreciated.

Honestly we've been super lucky our DS2 is basically more bothered by his sister. Everyone was telling me me to prepare for jealously, jotting, biting, him alienating himself from the parent who had DD with them but he pretty much just ignored her for a couple of weeks and then started taking an interest. We're now 8 weeks in and he comes over to pat her during nappy changes so she does get upset. I will say some days it's bloody hard work and tiring but i also found ds just slipped into our normal routine which has made it much easier to manage the days.

Not bothered 🙈

@Sweetpeach3 I’ve looked at Bugaboo Donkey, they do look great and I like that it can be converted to a single, same with the Silvercross Wave @Willow4987Smile I’m sure it’ll work great for you! I have an Oyster 3 which I love, it is frustrating though as my daughter is 6 months so the seat part has only just started being used, the pram is still so new, I wish I’d gone for something that could’ve been converted from single to double. @Sweetpeach3 would appreciate all your hints and tips for 13 month age gapSmile

@commoncoot That sounds great, and Congratulations! Such an exciting time, and lovely that they are close in age growing up. I know it will be hard, but we are so excited. Our family all has small age gaps, so I will be picking their brains for all the advice lol! We just found out on NYE (6 weeks today) so haven’t told anyone yet. Congratulations againSmile

The main reason I went with the bugaboo was because it was so light to push. Go do some test driving first it's all part of the fun !! I had the Venicci for number 1 I loved it. But the bugaboo is so easy to push an collapse etc

Plus every little thing comes off to wash it's brilliant !

Only tip I have is be prepared .... for the worst.... 😂

But honestly just don't over think thinks and take it easy when baby comes
You'll be fine xx

Out n about.

It’s a fab pram. And it fits through most standard doors!

The only downside, is there is no parent facing option after the carry cot is taken off

PatricksRum · 03/01/2020 03:08

I would suggest a sling/ carrier/ wrap and stick with the single pram you have at the moment.

DappledThings · 03/01/2020 13:08

Mountain Buggy Duet. We used it for a year with 22 month gap. Both seats lie flat. Fits through single doors and on all buses. We also had a carrycot with it which slotted into one of the seats.

I wasnt going to get a double, assumed I could manage with single and a sling but my older one still napped for at least 90 minutes till he was over 3 and I would have hated not being able to put them both down to sleep at the same time.
