Puddle suits / Snow suits or waterproof trousers?

My little boy is almost 2. He has been through 4 puddlesuits since he learnt to walk at 15 months! They always rip in the crotch, I suspect where the damn things are so hard to get on a struggling toddler. (2 m&s ones, one gap, one next)

I've seen kids wearing those separate waterproof trouser dungaree things, and then a coat on top.

Just wondered, what is everyones preference, i.e what is the easier garment to get on someone that doesn't want to wear it, and what works best practically? and lasts!

Thanks

I’ve never had a puddle suit rip! My older children used puddle suits at nursery but generally these days I prefer either the thick waterproof overtrousers (from Jojo) or very thin but sturdy waterproof dungarees as they can go in the car and a thick coat added once they get out.

Are they too tight with his clothes on underneath? I have to fight my 19 mo into his but haven't had any issues with ours so far, even last winter.
We had one from Tesco last year and this year he has a fleece lined puddlesuit from peterstorm and a snow suit from next. I'd certainly try the waterproof trousers and coat if the all in ones arent working for you.

Waterproof trousers.

They last longer as you can size up and bunch up the legs. I did dungarees when small then just trousers.

If your child is skinny but long shoulder to crotch the all in ones are not a good fit.

AHA! that is a great idea. I think we may switch to a pair of those in that case.

I don't know why they always rip! I think nursery are particularly heavy handed with the zips sometimes, they always seem tugged at.

He has a very long body! thats probably the cause.

Definitely waterproof dungarees. No annoying zip, much easier to get on and more combinations of outfits. Eg, with coat, with rain coat and also with just a jumper for when it’s warmer but still muddy. Puddle suits annoy me and get sweaty when it’s warm.

My daughters are older, 4 and 6, but waterproof dungarees have worked for them for years. Lidl ones are especially good!

Never had a pair rip - wear at the knees after a while - but they live through forest school, parks, beaches, falling off scooters etc etc
