Breastfeeding fussiness

Hello all this is my first post here. I would like some advice please. I've got my first baby Son who is 7 weeks old. I'm breastfeeding and it has been going well but the last week every evening he gets really fussy and crying and pulling off the breast, then immediately showing signs of wanting to go back on, but then crying again. in the day he seems happy and content feeding. I don't know if it's a let-down problem or if he wants to comfort suck, I'm burping him regularly in case it's gas and try different things to settle him like singing, bouncing etc. I know he's still very young and things can change it's just evening feeds seem to stress him out and I feel like I don't know how to help him. any advice would be appreciated thank you.

It sounds like he may be going through a development leap. Babies can get really fussy feeding around this time. Your baby will be increasing your milk to meet their needs. They don't tend to last too long but it will not be a supply issue. Breast feeding groups are great with supporting you and the wonder weeks app is good for showing when your baby is likely to start their next leap and explains what they are likely to learn Smile

also I found skin to skin can help. baby stays fussy but the closeness helps keep me relaxed

probably just a growth spurt let him feed as much as he needs.Infacol may also help

It could be a let down issue. Have you got a breast shield you can try? My friend’s little boy went through similar problem.

Also try feeding him in the laid back position (you lie back and he lies on your tummy to feed) this helps lessen your let down

thanks for the responses. downloaded the wonder weeks app, interesting to know about the development leaps. tried the laid back position today , he seems to like it. Will keep on trucking through and keep in mind it should pass. thank you
