Hi there!
Hope you're all well.
I'm a first time mummy and in need of some advice in a couple of things.

  1. My baby daughter seems to have quite a few of baby spots on her face? Should I be concerned? Is it normal? Or is part of an allergy to something?
  2. I give my baby formula and decided to give aptamil. This formula worked so well on my little brother and as it did thought I would give it to my daughter. But for the last week she tends to omit a little I would say after maybe 30 mins. She now sometimes wants the bottle but then daydreams and doesn't have any or very little
she seems to want to feed but throws the bottle out. She sometimes can be fussy and upset during feedings especially at night. Could this mean I should change formula?

Hi

Spots (baby acne) are quite normal and will go in a bit.
All the other things you say are also quite normal too.

What do you mean by omit a little? Are you breast feeding and using formula or just formula feeding?

Hi
As already said spots are normal in the first few weeks.
I didn't formula feed so no idea about what brands are best, but the most important thing is that your baby gains weight. If you are concerned in any way about the vomiting have your baby's weight measured at a drop in clinic or ask your health visitor. Some babies bring up milk after feeding and grow out of it I think around 6 months or so.

There’s no harm trying a different formula to see if it makes a difference. My DS was combination fed, he had a bit of reflux and it made no difference if it was breast milk or different formulas he always spat up milk (and food when the time came) until he was about 10 months old, for some babies - especially very young ones like yours - it’s very normal. Their digestive systems are still very immature at that stage. If she’s struggling with the bottle sometimes it would definitely be worth trying a different one though - my DS got on better with certain bottle brands at different stages.

There is harm actually if you keep on changing your milk, look for the signs of reflux. Non stop want to eat, screaming, smelly acidic mouth, and when vomiting it's a clear vomit. Really fussy and mostly don't wanna sleep at their back. Preferred tummy. I was given Gaviscon to my son first, I told them how bad it is and I wasn't believed, until we ended up in the hospital as the reflux was so bad it was burning his throat and couldn't breath properly. Scariest moments of my life while ambulance is taking us to the hospital. He was only moth and a half I think that time.
