I need some help , I have an 8 year old boy he is on his 4 th pair of school shoes since September, he doesn't play football or ride a bike too school !
I bought Clark's originally and the soul departed from the shoe they exchanged them , the next pair the top came away , too embarrassed to return them . I then purchased some sketchers the toe lifted I then got some start rite shoes the toes lifted , it like he's using them for brakes but he doesn't ride his bike/scooter .
I have no idea what he's doing to them and he , Doesn't or at least says he doesn't know , I do realise this Is not a shoe fault but a child fault .

Any idea of decent shoes I can replace with ??

No help I'm afraid just sympathy. I'm now looking for shoes for my Dd to go back in as she's on pair 3 which broke a few days ago. The problem is she has tiny feet and at 12 she wants shoes like her friends but with size 2 feet the shoes are all babyish - the kind with a Velcro strap and get your feet soaked.

OP no real solution, but I’d be inclined to buy Tesco shoes until he stops doing whatever the hell he’s doing.

JurassicShay A size 2 at age 12 is fairly normal among DD and her friends. They all wear the brogue style lace-ups, from Clark’s or Startrite.

Try next or Asda as they are at least cheaper ..
he must be doing something because my sons clarks shoes last forever ( he has small feet that hardly grow ) one pair were still immaculate after a year and a half .

JurassicShay · 21/12/2019 06:42

@HelloDulling DDs friends all have size 4 & 5 feet! She's tried on brogue style but her ankles just seem to slip out of them all. Her friends are wearing leather trainer style shoes and I haven't found any that start smaller than a 3.

HelloDulling · 21/12/2019 06:50

JurassicShay Ah, at DD’s school they are not allowed those. Only ‘proper‘ shoes

I got sick of the latest Clark's wearing away inside so ds had a pair of Next shoes this year. They completely disintegrated 3 weeks ago. I was going to go Asda shoes but they look like really hard plastic.

I then found a £25 pair on the Clark's website, which I think is a good price, so fingers crossed. Ds is 8 too.

Goldwispa · 21/12/2019 07:07

Start rite shoes have always lasted longer than Clarke's.

Kickers might work

CottonSock · 21/12/2019 07:45

I'd keep taking them back. My daughter is hard on shoes, by this doing better with startrite. Luckily at £50 a pair!

Dr Martens
Toughees

touchdaqueef · 21/12/2019 09:50

My daughter is still wearing last years dr martens and they look perfect! my son has had various kickers and Clark's and they're ruined in a few weeks. I'm going to try him with some dr martens boots for winter they seem practically indestructible.

I bought ds1 (11) a pair from Treads for September, they have done well so far. He normally has a pair per term at best! I have only replaced the laces so far. Treads offer a 12 month guarantee too

paranoiamumma · 21/12/2019 21:17

I agree he must be doing something but god only knows what ! We do walk about 2 miles to school and the 2 miles home but my five years olds chows are perfect .
I will look at dr martens and kickers thank you guys , in the meantime I am going tesco tomorrow so will check that out too .
