I think couche covers are made out of recycled blankets. If you get something knitted in merino or blue-faced leicester wool it should be beautifully soft. With the couche cover, the nappy will be between the wool and the baby's skin, so if it is a bit scratchy he shouldn't feel it.

most wool covers are lovely and soft. There was one organic one I came across that was hideously scratchy but they do soften with a few washes. You could use it straight away if its been lanolised.

oh well i will give it a whirl and see how it does! I ama wool virgin. I dont like trialing a set up for nigh times incase it fails and i lose precious sleep !! i suspect tonight i will not sleep anywya in anticipation!

if its lanolised and fits well then you shouldn't have any problems . My daughter was a very heavy wetter and she was in a wool wrap (either stacinator or Popolini)over a Tots Bots cotton nappy and that was fine.

Couche are much scratchier than others. Woollywraps and Seahorse slacks are loooooooovely

nappyzone · 24/08/2007 19:25

well this is it - i am a wool virgin no more - i have just put my little man to bed in his shiney new couche cover - he is donning a size 2 nippa bimble containing also a greenkids hemp insert and a peapods microfibre booster all under his lovely pumpkin coloured scratchy cover - it was stretchy and covered his massive nappy well but im sure i could see bits of white bimble about the leg holes. Put him in his extra large romper and in his grobag - if anyone can see a gaping error of judgement please let me know as i would rather wake him than have him wake me soaked at 4am! I am kinda nervous - if this works it is a miracle and i will become a full on wool addict (i have already found myself googling seahorse slacks and some wool longie things today!!!). [worried about sleep emotion]
