Ibuprofen over kill side effects

Bonjour ppl,
I have been taking a lot of ibuprofen over the past week due to dry socket. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot. But I've started to develop restless leg syndrome over the past 2-3 nights. It's not the first time this has happened to me. I get chronic dental abscesses, so ibuprofen is the go to tablet for these issues. And every time I take them for an extended amount of time, I've ended up with restless legs. Once I stop taking them it goes away. I know the obvious answer is stop taking them lol. But I'm more curious than anything, to see if anyone else has suffered these same side effects. I cant find anything on google, but surely I'm not alone? And if anyone has any recommendations of a pain killer to replace the ibuprofen, that would also be wonderful. I've tried paracetamol but its just not the same.

You do realise that repeated and extended use of ibuprofen and other antiflamatories can cause peptic ulcers and other gastric issues? Are you taking something (I.e. omeprazole) to protect your stomach lining alongside the ibuprofen?

Also - ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory and wouldn't help with pain. Paracetamol actually blocks the pain signals in your brain (in layman's terms) so should help. I've had dry socket, abscesses and infections and they've helped with all

Yea I am on omeprazole. I also make sure I eat 3 good meals a day when i am taking them, instead of my usual 1 and snacks lol.

It's not a side effect that I'm familiar with (studied this class of drugs for a professional qualification recently) . Just because it's not known doesn't mean that it's not related. There is a system of reporting drug reactions which anyone (including patients and families) can use - google "yellow card reporting". It might be worth noting that all drugs in this class can cause kidney problems and the kidneys are responsible for maintaining salt levels within the body - potentially rest, ems legs could be caused by electrolyte imbalances. Certainly worth mentioning to your GP (rather than dentist)

I dont know if this makes any difference, but I also suffer with low iron levels. So that's probably not helping things (from what I've read).
I'm glad to hear that just because it's not a known side effect, it doesn't mean it isn't one.

magnesium glycinate helps restless legs for me and is a known aid. Also other magnesiums but glycinate best - and least likely to cause diarrhoea
