How to keep tuppence and crumble wrap on baby?

Maybe a bit of a tat but I saw the tuppence and crumble star wrap being mentioned on another thread and it reminded me that we have one shoved in the back of dd's drawers.

A friend bought it for her but she won't keep it on at all. Just immediately shoves her arms back out.

Does anybody have any magic tips?
Seems a shame for it not to get any use.

Is it the correct size for your baby? I've never struggled to keep it on and we use ours every day. I pull the fabric cross over at the front all the way across and her hands and arms go into the points and (mostly) stay put. They come in 3 sizes is it possible yours is too big?

Also wondering if it’s the correct size for her? Both DGC have worn them from a few weeks through to 18 months and I’ve never noticed them pulling their arms back out 🤔. Youngest DGC won’t keep socks, hats or gloves on but stays put in their star wrap. Are you crossing the wrap right over at her chest? If it’s the right size I’m not sure it would be easy for her to pull her arms out once you’ve got it on her.

It's size 4-10 months and she was 7m when I last tried it on her about a month ago so it should be the right size.

I'm definitely pulling it right across and getting her hands in the points but she just pulls them back down and out again.

she sounds very gymnastic to be able to wriggle her arms out once they’re in and the wrap is crossed over her chest. It’s not much use in this weather if she’s doing that though. I can’t really think of any other suggestions other than fastening a belt round it or sewing in a zip.

redforport · 14/12/2019 21:42

She a little wriggler. I can totally see her being some kind of contortionist or escape artist when she's an adult Grin

Putting a zip on it is definitely beyond my sewing skills but I had thought about sewing a couple of ribbons on to tie it closed.

If you have the time and energy then sewing ribbons on sounds a great solution. The wraps are so useful in this weather for if they’re strapped in a car seat or just as an extra layer for out and about in general.

Enidcat5 · 14/12/2019 22:03

If she's small for age it might be it was just a bit too big still, they are deliberately generous so that they can be used in car seat or sling. I love mine but she's just outgrown it 😭.

Cacaca · 14/12/2019 22:25

My 9 week old is drowned by her 0-4 month wrap and she’s not a small baby 😐

redforport · 14/12/2019 22:54

I really don't think it's too big.
She's in the 98th centile for height and between the 75th and 91st for weight so she not a wee baby by any means.

My only concern about the ribbons is that she might just end up getting in a tangle but I'll give it a go and see.

Mine were only in it when they were in something else that contained them. So into it, pulled tight, one hand across the chest to hold it in place then straight into buggy or car seat with straps across or into sling where it was held tight by being against me.
