How do you know if your baby is teething?

So my 18 week old the past few days hasn't been finishing all his feeds and seems grumpier than normal but still happy enough. He's slobbering and stiring more in the night time.
Is he teething or is he too young?

Never too young for teething.
My ds was teething from 3 months, finally cut a tooth at 6months. His teeth seem to bother him more when they're moving in his gums than actually cutting.

DC3 was teething from about 8 weeks old... first tooth came at 7 months. They’re pretty much always teething until all their teeth are through!

There is a theory that says that anything grumpy babies do from the age of about 8 weeks onwards is 'teething', because the teeth are moving in the gums.

There is another theory that says that this is bollocks, babies just go through a grumpy and drooly phase for a while and teeth aren't doing anything until they actually start coming down and cutting through.

I'm in camp B but I am massively outnumbered on this by everyone around me so, up to you. Grin

Just a reminder that current advice is babies should be feed on demand; as often as they want and as much as they want. A baby should never drink all the milk in bottle as this means they have not decided when to stop. If the do drain a bottle they should be offered more.
