Basically my 16 month old ate reasonably well until he had his jabs and got poorly and didnt eat properly for a week. This was 3 weeks ago! Since then hes happy to eat breakfast and lunch stuff so finger food and cereal cheese beans scrambled egg and pasta on a good day. He loves yoghurt and fruit. Hes always been an early riser about 5.30-6.30 but today it was 5 and he was crying until he got milk. It was sausage and mash for tea he just chucked it. I have ignored him to let him get on with it, tried to encourage him, spoon fed him and given him the spoon. I dont no anymore. Basically its all dinner type meals. Stew no, lasagne, no, saudage no, jacket potato no all gers chucked on floor unless it has cheese on then will pick each bit of cheese out! I dunno what to do. Yesterday he had banana and yoghurt coz he needs something otherwise he wakes hungry but its not enough. Hes obviously waiting for that. Any advice?? Do i not worry and just give him what he wants or continue offering things he chucks on floor and gets hungry. Thanks x

Yeah because apparently they are learning that they will get something. You can still give fruit yoghurt etc for pudding. Try putting some finger food you know he does eat on his plate next to what ever he is refusing. My lo did try a bit of sausage tonight. I think they feel the tension. They know you arent chilled out evrn if ur trying to be lol. I have a 4 year old and she knows that is shes messes around at food time thats a great way of winding me up. I have started letting her serve herself and that's really worked coz its her choice i guess. On another note. I work in a nursey and have for over 10 years and the amount of parents who cant belive there child whether 6 months of 4 years ate stuff at nursery but not home is loads! But I am very chilled at work coz its not my child and majority of kids do eat most of the stuff but I am not so forceful if they decide not to eat it as they arent my own children I guess so dont take it so personally I also accept when they are full etc much more than at home lol I think alot of the children are also influenced by the other children at nursery eating. They also have a different routine i guess. Nursery also has main lunch at lunch time and a small tea at tea time. So could u try that sometimes ?

@SnowWhite26 I know it’s an old thread - I suspect mine is probably teething but he’s definitely a picky eater. Just wondering how long the fussy phase lasted for your little one? X
