Changed formula, straining all night, help!

So my DS is 3 months old, tried BF but he has palette issues so couldn't latch, switched to formula after a stressful first 2 weeks.

I had no idea about formula, no help from midwives/hv as they kept saying to stick to bf, so I chose aptamil because it was the most available locally. Since then, DS has been straining to poo every night from 3am to 6am, seems uncomfortable, pulls his knees up etc, but the hv just said it was normal, he'll grow out of it. It got progressively worse as he approached 3 months, so I felt like I needed to do something so I changed to Hipp Organic after reading that it's gentler on their tummy.

Every night since, he's been up straining and screaming, pulling his knees up every hour of the night and most of the day.

It's been 5 days on the Hipp, do I need to give it longer for his body to adjust to a new formula, or should I switch back to Aptamil, or try a different formula?

I hate seeing him in pain like this, and also I'm not getting any sleep! I tried asking my hv but she just said 'if you were bfing...' to every question I asked, not very helpful!

Any advice would be great Smile

Didn't want to read and run, I had similar and switched to Hips, but also used infacol as it's possibly wind rather than pooing if he's doing it that often. Are you getting poo nappies?

Infacol takes a few days to work fully but I did notice a difference quite quickly.

Also, loads of mums I spoke to seemed to go through this as 12 weeks, and it was suggested there is development occurring in the digestive system at this age which would also pass.
