Was bathing my 21 month old tonight and notice these red spots scattered around his body. He isn't unwell he's eating, playing laughing. But they are itching him. Last night he woke up crying itching like mad and struggled to sleep for the rest of the night. He's never had chicken pox before. I showed my sister who works in a nursery and she says it looks a lot like chicken pox. Has anyone got any ideas, should I book a gp appointment tomorrow?

I thing unless they’re very unwell GP’s usually ask that kids are not brought into the surgery because it’s so contagious. There are some decent creams etc that will help with the itch that you can get over the counter. I hope he carries on feeling OK with it.

It does look a bit similar, if you google the pox spots, you'll get photos of them and might be able to see if they are similar?

My children’s spots were both redder and larger than the ones your son has.

Do they have blisters on them?

It doesn't look like blisters just lumps? I was thinking maybe allergy lumps because I get one if I'm allergy to dust or something? But I've never had them all over my body just one on my cheek or something? I'll have another look on the internet and see what I can find. Thankyou for your comments!

They look like hives or possibly heat related not blistering like the pox

Tbh though it’s better they have it when they can’t itch or grumble as much as an older child. At least in my experience

My youngest gets heat lumps that look like the start of chicken pox before the booster but they abate

stophuggingme · 09/12/2019 19:34

Blister

If it’s chicken pox more will show up fairly rapidly in my experience. I’ve got a photo of dd with one red spot on her face (didn’t notice it at the time) the next day she was covered.

fannyanney · 09/12/2019 19:35

Doesn't look like pox to me, looks more allergy/hives as someone above has said

mumsince2018 · 09/12/2019 19:45

Wouldn't surprise me if it's allergy lumps as I get them but can you get them all over your body? I don't know what he would have an allergy too either he's eaten the same things as usual! How kids are a puzzle!
