DD & nasal flu vaccine

DD4 had the flu vaccine at school on Wednesday, she has had a tickly cough but I read all the NHS advice and didn't read anything about her not being able to have it because of her cough...

Anyway yesterday (Thursday) and today she has been under the weather and actually had a day off school today off colour not eating much and complaining she doesn't feel well.

I've given calpol both days but tonight she had a high temperature to go with the feeling unwell - I've just been to check her and she still feels hot - is this the flu vaccine or something else?

Nobody can answer this.

It could be just a cold. It could be the vaccine. It could be a virus.

O would try ibuprofen if you have any. Don't alternate the meds, just switch and see how she goes.

Thanks for your response - no I know no one can really know for sure

I'll try nurofen for kids and see if that budges it she seems right as rain in the day then goes downhill at 6pm Sad

There are literally hundreds of bugs going round at the moment. This week we had over a third of the children off sick with one thing or another.

Everyone jumps on the vaccine having caused their child to catch the flu but this is not true. However, known side effects are runny noses, temperature, headache, feeling under the weather and losing appetite-this will all have been in the information provided for you when you signed consent.

It sounds like a cold like everyone has going around. It was fine to have it with a cough, just as long as they don’t have a very congested nose (then it’s no harm, just doesn’t work).
