accidents as act of defiance?

ds (3.2) has been potty trained for almost a month now and has been doing really good, but the last two days; he's had about 5 (wee) accidents (he hasnt even attempted to go to the potty.) he's become a lot more defiant in behaviour too, shouting more too when frustrated. i dont react when he has an accident, just remind him to use the potty.

could he be having accidents to be defiant? or is this a normal cycle in potty training?

thanks!

It does sound like defiance to me. You could try making him clear up the mess (if there is any) and get himself some clean clothes etc. Make it into a bit of a chore and he will get fed up soon enough.

My ds went through a similar phase of poos in his pants. I only needed to make him clean up his own mess twice before he stopped You do have to be consistent though, even if you are in a hurry to go somewhere. If he thinks that you will eventually give in and do it for him it won't work.

meandmy> we've been doing that, it's our 'potty party' as we call it.
i'm getting back in the habit of asking him if he has to go (he always says no) and then taking him about 10 minutes after i ask him.

i'm going to see if there are any accidents tonight. i think they are happening more when he is tired. all the accidents have been from 4pm on.

i do have him get me (well, him!) clean clothes.
