Ohh I like bumhuggers, find they take a little while to dry, longer than cotton tots, but only really use them for night use as you can stuff them with tons of boosters

Hate with a firey passion... hemp is a nightmare for my water it seems, and the poppers are hidden so fastening it is hard with a wriggler.

nappyzone · 21/08/2007 15:00

lol really - i really like hemp - i have and use ellas house hemp inserts and i think its great - up there with bamboo for me lol and quicker to dry! does that mean you have a cheap 2nd hand one to part with ? i dont get that its all pretty on the inside but dull on the outside?

yup they are hemp and need a wrap......but you are getting some lovely wool ones aren't you?

nappyzone · 21/08/2007 15:11

in deed i am!!! oooo i dont know what to do - been going a bit crazy buying for my night stash! its either a ellas house or another minki - i have std and there huge so was debating a slinki - anyone use a slinki succesfully overnight? i like that minkis is a pocket one but then i like to be able to play wooly games when they arrive - oh the decisions! my dh is going to kill me when he see our new additions!!

Very little difference between a slinki and std so both are fine overnight

The new bumhuggers are sooo much better than the old. I had an old style one and it quickly turned to cardboard and went all lumpy and horrible. Really like the new ones tho and find the pocket perfect for sticking an extra booster in (also only use at night)-they aren't too bulky either which makes a pleasant change for our night nappies!
Drying time ok, similar to bamboozles i find.
Haven't had the popper problem that flame does...I find if you fasten the bottom one first you can see what you are doing and then the top one is already in the right place so is easy to do up-no more fiddly than a nippa on my wriggler!

maisiemog · 21/08/2007 18:00

I haven't tried the new bumhuggers, but have seen them in a shop. The concealed booster definitely seems a good idea.
I'm not keen on nappies with a fleece lining, I would prefer the option to use or not.
For use the containment was totally inadequate. I think my DS may have had a slight lactose intolerance and Ella's House nappies leaked badly with poops. I think the cut was too slim for the bulk and stiffness of the fabric, if that makes sense: it didn't sit close to the legs.
However, this might be a lot better now that the booster is separate and slimmer.
Have a look at the blog as well, there are quite a few comments on there

nappyzone · 21/08/2007 18:05

they actually do aplix in the new one which is far more favourable for me also so i think there willbe one on its way to our stash....

I had the aplix version of the old-style bumhugger, it was a nice big band of aplix and seemed to stay in good shape for the short time we kept ours.

claireybee · 22/08/2007 14:18

Ah see i like fleece lined nappies for night cos it means the whole of the inside has that stay dry layer! Also havent experienced many poos in ours as again, we only use them at night really and dd tends to only poo during day. Havent noticed them being any worse on containment than other nappies when we have had a random night poo but i'll keep my eyes open now and report back!
I'd also like to amend my drying time comment-nappies were on airer for 1.5 days then in airing cupboard to finish due to rain and the bumhuggers dried quicker than the bamboozles-they were ready to use last night whereas the bamboozles werent ready until this morning.

maisiemog · 22/08/2007 21:58

I must add that I don't know if bumhuggers would leak on all babies, but because my little boy was a bit 'runny' (sorry TMI ) he needed really good containment to keep it in.
There were few nappies that were totally reliable on him and bumhuggers were particularly bad.

nappyzone · 23/08/2007 10:14

im hearing good things about the new ones - i have ordered one in to try on him, i need to stock some good night nappies as well really but the only thing i truly get away with is a minki - does anyone know of anything else similar thats a fleece pocket? the thing with the ellas house is it will be a two parter thingy but you know i have to try everything before my boy potty trains lol! I too like a night nap to be fleece lined otherwise my ds gets red bits.

I like the new ones with the removal insert as they are easier to dry and softer, but the old ones I have got take ages to dry and have gone crispy in our hard water area.

maisiemog · 24/08/2007 21:30

Lollipop do a fleece pocket nappy.
Are you considering stuffables as well?
