trying to persuade a friend to get into reuseables

I bumped into a girl that I first met over 2 years ago when our DS's where babies but I didn't really get to know her that well and only saw her a few times at a mums grp. Then a few weeks ago I bumped into her at a mutural friends DS's party and she had been told that I was using cloth on my DD (7 months) and was intrigued and said she'd love to do use reuseables with her DD (8 weeks), I think her biggest worry is the extra washing she thinks she'll have. Anyway she is coming round tomorrow so she can see my many types of nappies and get a really feel for them. Any advice on helping to succuessfully get her to convert greatly appreciated! You never know if it goes well I might become an agent!

Just let her see how enthusiastic you are about it all.
I think that many people are doubtful about reusables because they don't really know much about them.
If you are honest about it all and explain everything to her, she'll soon realise that they're not as much hassle as she thinks.
You can also explain how much money she'll save , especially if she uses birth to potty ones. That's always a big point of persuasion!
Also, the fact that she's coming round to talk about it means that she's genuinely interested, which is half the battle won already.
Good luck!!

Once she sees your nappies, she'll want to try them! Just explain honestly why you like your nappies so much and she can make an informed decision. Do you have any outgrown ones you can give her to get started? Or could you give a gift voucher for an online nappy store?

people always think it will add to your washing but i have been using them for about 7 weeks now on my dd2 13mths and i can honestly say i havent noticed a diff.
The only thing i have noticed is that i dont have to buy nappys every week lol.
Ps dont forget to tell her about the nappy voucher (if you get it in your area)that was a real push for me, and also tell her about the trial packs that you can get , i was looking on mothercare website the other day and there trial pack is only 9.99 and you get disposable liners and washable liners in with it xx

make sure you advise her to get correct quanities so she only has to wash every other day, we do that and haven't noticed a difference and washing machine is free for clothes when needed.
Money saving is good point but I know a couple of my friends have been persuaded as they like the eco arguement and hate landfil
Also recommend nappies you know work - know people who have been put off by buying the cheapest nappy system and having loads of leaks.
Good luck!

i have only just gotten into them, having been put off by the percieved work involved, and the hugely complicated array of different types and designs etc

tis a real shame as im really enjoying them now, oddly enough. (my dc are 4, 3 and 18m- tis the 18mo who is in them)

i would say, try not to overwhelm her with too much info as thats kind of what put me off, largely i think. show her lots of different kinds, yes, but guide her as to what you like, and definaely promote the pocket kind as they are the ones to have finally hooked me in - they are so easy!

i would say the money savings would be a big draw too. i must have spent a bloody fortune on disposables over the last 4 years[faint]

A gift voucher sounds a nice idea, or if you have a couple you could lend her for a bit?
