Hi,
I'll keep this as brief as possible. I am seeking legitimate legal advice externally, but just curious to what other mothers would do.
My ex and I have a custody agreement in place, but that changed to supervised access as he was under investigation by the police.
He has now been charged despite protesting his innocence. His solicitor has advised that he pleads guilty on only the summary of the evidence, and believes if he pleaded not guilty he'd go trial, more than likely be found guilty and face up to a max of 14 years in prison.
If he pleads guilty before then, he could skip the prison sentence but he'll have to sign the sex offenders register and a community order will be put in place. There is a clue to what the charges are...
He hasn't got a very good relationship with our child as it is, and the supervised access as been stressful for all involved. We live in different counties now so it involves a lot of travel, which my child really dislikes. I also worry about the teenage years and what happens when teenage girls are on the scene.... A further clue.
My ex seems to think he will be allowed to continue his supervised access, but I feel sick to my stomach at the thought of it. He has broken my trust on many occasion during his access times and if he does plead guilty, despite saying he's innocent... it just doesn't sit well with me.
Would you cut contact?
