Is my child safe ?

Hello everyone. Recently I was going through an article which said the crime against children have increased 48% as compared to previous 5 years. I see newspapers containing some kind of mishap with children coming back from the school everyday. The school can be responsible only if the child boards the school bus, but what if he/she doesn't.I think it is a serious issue which needs to be addressed.

Being a parent myself ,I know what it feels like when one is left with no information once the school gets over till we see our kids at the bus stop.I am planning to raise my thoughts on it. I seek your support.

I think there's been a huge increase in reporting incidents that were previously brushed off as "lessons learned". I don't think actual incidents are on the up.

But a report published by the government on their own website says that crimes have increased from 2007 to 2018. This is the latest report. The govt stats are for the regions of England and Wales.

The report can be accessed using this link:

I partially agree with this. Children are quite safe in most of the European states but yes there are some anti-social elements who threatened the society with their criminal acts.
A few days back I got a news from a neighbour that a child was kidnapped on the way back home from the school. Since that time I feel very helpless when my child's bus gets delayed or he gets down at a friends stop.

Has your child expressed any concerns or has his behaviour changed in any way? Does he seem happy? Have you asked him?
Surely the best protection is to teach your child well and give your child the confidence to speak out if there is an issue. I’m not sure what extra you want the school to do.
