Dressing baby at night advice please

Hello! Looking for a bit of advice. Baby is 14 weeks and up until recently it hasn't been too chilly at night and she has slept well in a vest/baby gro/light swaddle wrap combo. The last couple nights have been quite chilly and so yesterday I bought a cosy grosnug in the sale. Following gro company advice for room temp 16-20 degrees she wore a baby gro only under the grosnug but in the night she woke up cold a couple of times.

We also have a gro egg and the temp did drop for a little while to 15.something degrees so maybe she should have been wearing a vest as well?

In the end at 3am I wrapped her in her swaddle wrap inside the grosnug and she slept better. I did this as I didnt want to undress her to put a vest on as well. She's quite tired this morning so I'm guessing she didn't get as good a sleep as usual.

The radiator in the bedroom is not very efficient at the moment (full of sludge - old) and I'll be ringing a plumber to have it replaced but in the meantime I would love some advice on how I should be dressing her at night. It's an old house so never really gets warmer than 19 in the bedroom in winter even with the heating on for a few hours in the evening. I even set the timer to come on for 45 mins at 1am last night!

Same as you with the cold house. Personally I feel that companies like gro etc have to err on the side of caution and I always dress my 7 week old warmer than they recommend. Our bedroom is around 18 at night and she’s in a long sleeve bodysuit, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog sleeping bag. If it gets any cooler than this I will definitely add a blanket.

@justanother123 ok great thanks. I will vest her tonight as well. It's not meant to be as cold but still chilly! I did feel mean taking her nice warm vest off before bed last night when putting her into her baby gro.

I hate all the prescision marketing from gro which preys on the anxieties of new parents.

No babies shouldn’t overheat, but as long as they’re not swamped in layers they’ll be fine - in a chillier house I’d go for vest sleep suit and a 2.5 gro bag without even thinking about it.

My baby woke up so cold in the night and she was in vest, sleepsuit and bag. I used to put socks on my other children's hands but my baby sucks her thumb sometimes but may sock her left hand! Maybe two sleepsuits as they're not thick.
