Moving baby to the seat of pram

My son is nearly 4 months. He has silent reflux and hates laying down, he is also extremely nosy. So he rarely stays in the bassinet of his pram without screaming. I am considering when I can move him to the seat of the pram which is meant to be 6+ months. He is a big baby, already 16lbs (probably more I need to get him weighed) and has great head control and with help can sit up too. Would it be ok to use the seat now so he can look around a bit and not lay flat ?

I considered buying a newborn insert but it only goes up to 20lbs so would be quite a waste !

It’s an UppaBaby Cruz and he’s nearly grown out of the bassinet anyway.

Appreciate anyone else’s experience of this ! Thank you.

@BellaNutella88 Thank you - I’ll check it out!

@Teddyreddy thank you that looks great ! I’m not actually sure he will need it having tried him yesterday but will see how we get on. I think I’d feel better with an insert in.

@bubblegumunicorn no we have a joie 360 spin. When we was deciding on a car seat I thought there was no point getting the clip in one as I’m always out for more than 2 hours generally. That was when I expected to stick to all the rules.... now I’ll do whatever I need haha.

I moved both of mine at 3/4 months ish. I always had prams which have a hinged recline though, so they end up pretty much flat. I think the Uppababy has more of a moulded seat which just tilts? I am not sure how comfortable it is for them to have their legs up when they are reclined back. I have no idea though, I might be talking total rubbish.

I put my daughter in at 4 months and she was fine. I also found my matching footmuff to pram mamas&papas thirty pound cheaper on amazon so shop about!!

DS was five months and pulled himself up so he was sat upright with his arm casually leaning on the edge, like you see drivers do in the summer with open car windows. I knew then I'd probably left it too long and he needed strapping in. Our seat bit fully reclines though.

Ah thank you. @BertieBotts yea it is like a seat. It does recline quite far though so doesn’t look too uncomfortable. @Zelda93 I caved and just bought the official one from John Lewis - il never learn!

@LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook that made me laugh ! I think then it’s def safe to move to the seat !

Well I tried him yesterday and he seemed much happier, only one kick off because he was tired - but now I can’t get him to sleep in the seat ! I was actually quite sad though because he didn’t look like a little baby anymore :-(. He fill the seat out very well so not sure if an insert will fit but might try the cheaper Amazon one that was suggested to air on the side of caution.

Thanks all!
