Clocks - why do they change?!

Why why why do we have a rule about putting our clocks back?! My little girl has never been a fantastic sleeper, comes wandering at least once a night but she had finally settled into waking up at 6/6.30am after a brief period of 5am around April/May. But now it’s blooming 5am again!

Putting her to bed later does not work, she’s always been an early riser regardless of bedtime (wedding in summer until midnight, up at 6am Hmm ) ... please send help! Can I just run on BST instead?! 😂

Agree 100%, my 15 month old has decided 4.30am is a great time to cry/wake up this week Hmm

Well, the rest of Europe is doing away with it thanks to the EU. We therefore probably won't be :(

It's a very very antiquated thing

I hate it so much. Winter bad enough. Putting clicks back makes it worse. It is stupid. And awful. 🌑

I was talking to someone about this the other day - they thought it was an old fashioned farming thing, to give farmers more light house to work in or something?! But there’s the same amount of light, just slightly earlier.....
I don’t know, would be the answer!!

Mothermia · 31/10/2019 21:30

*more light hours.
Not farmers in light houses Hmm

Is your google broken, OP?

Have an explanation that’s been designed for children.

Clocks going back is our favourite day of the year. Suits our vampiric nature. 🧛‍♀️

AthollPlace · 31/10/2019 21:34

I like it, it makes the mornings lighter during the winter.

I have no real issue with the clocks moving in general, just how much it messes with my daughters sleep patterns! 5am is killing me & it’s not her fault.. she’s an early rising child but 6am I deem reasonable (although still pants). 5am is middle of the night 😩

Because it's too dark in the morning in winter otherwise. My kids travelled to school in the dark for 4 weeks a year even with the hour change, without it would be 3 months.
