Viral Induced Wheeze - Any advice?

My son was hospitalised when he was 8 months for bronchiolitus. He had low oxygen levels and found it hard to breathe. He was there for 5 days.

He is now 13 months. He started having trouble breathing last night so took him to hospital. They diagnosed him with viral induce wheeze this time as his oxygen levels were perfect. He was discharged today.

Now I am abit worried.
He’s constantly got colds as he goes nursery and has had a few chest infections with antibiotics as treatment so it doesn’t always result in him troubling to breathe.

Should I be worried about future lung damage? Asthma? Repeat episode?

I have a humidifier but I stopped using it as I read too much moist leads to bacteria and dust mite growth. So I don’t know whether it is good or not?

Anyone tried manuka honey?

Anything else I can do?

I don’t know anyone else’s child suffer like this so makes me feel like poo :(

My daughter is the same
She’s 6 now but has just been in hospital on steroids
They wouldn’t diagnose her with asthma until now
She’s on brown preventative inhalers twice a day
I would try to see a specialist
In the meantime keep him propped up with pillows at night as this stops mucus collecting so much in the chest
Could you try a plug in instead? They have menthol eucalyptus in them - so good for bad coughs

He may go through a rough patch of recurrent viral induced wheeze, but lots of kids grow out of it, but is frightening to see. Assume they discharged him with a salbutamol inhaler and spacer. Just follow instructions as you weane him off it. He might get it again with future colds. My dd grew out of hers but had 5 hospital admissions aged 1-3. After a good couple of years She does now have asthma, but it’s mild and controlled and I hope she’ll grow out of that too.
