Hello,
My 4 Yr old really wants to go to the fireworks this year. I have a 4 month old and really not sure if taking her with us too is such a good idea.

What are everybody's thoughts??

She might like the lights but get some ear defenders. We went to Disney when dd was 12 weeks old and she loved the fireworks as it's pretty and we covered her ears so all was good.

Our Dd slept through them at 4 months. I had taken a sling to put her in and she had a woolly hat on. I put my hand over her ear when the really big ones started but she didn’t make a peep.
I would go. It will be nice for the older one.

Ear defenders and a sling. Also, I'd avoid big fireworks displays, and go to something smallish and local. We go to a community garden near us rather than one of the big London parks. Any fireworks are exciting for little ones, it doesn't need to be huge (& consequently crowded).

A sling and a hat and just cover her ears at the loud ones. My grandson was 3 months last Xmas and slept through the VERY LOUD fireworks easily in his sling. It’s easier to cover ears than try to get ear defenders on a tiny baby imo and easiest in a sling. You can also feel when (if) they start to stir so you can walk them around etc.

At that age baby will not be particularly interested. Far more likely to be "scared" by them when 1/2 years old IME.

My nephew was absolutely enchanted by fireworks at 3 months old. No ear defenders, but we watched from a bit further away.

Do you want to go? Personally I loathe fireworks & have avoided them for years, do you have a DH or DP who could take your older child? I wouldn’t take a 4 month baby, but I wouldn’t go myself, just a miserable evening hanging around in a damp, dark atmosphere, with screaming children getting over excited, never understood the appeal Grin .

we did our own fireworks I the garden last year when dd was 3 months old, didn't have ear defenders, she watched the display and didn't get scared at all, in fa t she seemed abit unimpressed by it all lol. Maybe do some at home and if the baby does get scared or cry you can take them inside?
