You need MrsDoolittle to comment. She's been using tots and bimbles since her new born appeared on the seen back in May (gosh where has the time gone!!) Here is an old thread . Not sure what size her dd was then. Sorry not much help

You could use size 2s, but they would be bulkier. You can fold them down at the front for smaller babies.

I agree with WW on the colour loss of the rainbow bots. I've got the boosters, so one of every colour.

Lilac and green have now faded to grey but orange, yellow, pink and aquamarine are still really bright. Don't have any blue. Apparently if they come into contact with essential oils ( like tea tree) then they're more prone to fade. Totsbots also don't recommend soaking in nappy soak stuff either which can slowly bleach over time.

But Totsbots are great and will last and last. Ds is a chunky 2 yr old and has only just moved into size 3s - most babies won't need a size 3.

I used normal tots size 2 since day one. My son was just over 8lbs at birth. My criteria when going down the cloth nappy route was to save money, as well as bum/eco friendliness. Even though bulkyish in the beginning I'm so glad I didn't opt for the size 1 to start. Would love to try some rainbow bots too but don't NEED them and kind of defeats my money saving mission. You get used to the slight bulkiness in the beginning anyway and your littin won't know the difference. I guess it all comes down to $$$$. Size 2's will "probably" take you all the way thru but if you get size 1's you'll defo need to buy the 2's between 6-12month -/+.

Hi Liz.
Thank you for the plug Karen, makes me feel like a 'proper' mumsnetter

Heres my tuppenny worth. I started using reusables on my dd when she was 10 weeks old - the nappylady suggested I give myself the time to get used to my baby first. I thought the rainbow bots were gorgeous.
She is not a very big baby so I went for size 1 and at 6 months she is still in them and likely to be for a while yet. I think she was probably only 11lbs when we started. The nappylady told me her dd was in size 1 til 22 months!
Dd is in nursey now and this was on my mind when purchasing the nappies too, so I bought the aplix with liners - sooooo easy. Any more questions? Be warned, I could go on forever as Karen99 will testify!!
