When is a safe time to use a toddler duvet?

My son is 11 months old and gets very confused/ refuses to sleep in growbags. We didn't use them when he was younger because we had to swaddle him for his startle reflex and other the summer he just had a sleep suit.

His room is now getting really cold at night and he keeps waking up. We've got cellular blankets but I wondered if a duvet would work better. Manufacturers have a guideline of 12 months but I don't know anyone who gave their baby a duvet at 12 months. Is it safe to or should I just carry on the blankets?

We used one from about 13 months. Dd was 1 in August but when the temp cooled a bit in the September we gave it to her. She was such a wriggler that it was always off though.... still rarely seems to be under it now and she’s 4!

All of mine had duvets from 12 months.

I would say 11 months is fine

We didn't use one till 2.5 years when. We moved DS to a bed from his cot. Wasn't so much a safety concern but he was a really wriggly sleeper and would never have stayed under a duvet till then.

I have one but haven't used it yet as ds wriggles so much and half the time ends up upside down at the bottom of the cot.. So he in a sleeping bag..
But my in laws are Danish and they have baby duvets from birth (bit of a bone of contention as I didn't agree it was safe and they insisted my son didn't sleep through the night as he didn't have the comfort of a duvet) I'd be happy for him to use it from 12 months though if he wasn't so wriggly and tbh he's the other way I can't get him to sleep without his feet tucked into sleeping bag now

Mine both hated sleeping bags but would also kick off any blankets (and I’m a bit paranoid about duvets so they haven’t had them until about 2.5/3.

I’ve found mine do well before that in ‘sleep snugglers’ from Jojo - basically like a sleeping bag with legs, so they don’t get caught up or feel restricted. You can usually find them second hand on eBay too.

My daughter uses a walk in sleeper from mothercare. It’s basically a wadded sleepsuit, I think 2.5 tog. It’s absolutely brilliant, keeps her nice and cosy and she can’t kick it off.

Yy to Danish duvets. I live in dk andwWe've been using them since they were newborns - sleeping bags werent available 8 and 5 yrs ago.

I tried DD with one a few months ago (she's 15 months) but she never stays underneath it so she's cold. She is fine with sleeping bags though so I'll stick with them until she outgrows the 12-18 months and try again.

I'd say 11 months is completely fine. I do think DD would like a pillow as she likes to duffle stuff up like blankets etc. Under her head.
