Portable car seats for 2 year old do they exist?

Planning ahead for a wedding next summer which involves a long train ride and then a stay in a hotel for a few jigjts with a potential taxi ride to and from the wedding venue. Now I appreciate I'm probably going to have to lug the car child seat with me as for this age they are rightly so quite supportive still but are there any travel versions or light weight options with a carry bag about that anyone has come across? Thanks

Nights not jigjts. Think I fell asleep on the phone then!

Trunki do a backpack that turns into a car seat

We used the Trunki boostapak or bubblegum inflatable when mine were a bit older but for a two year old - I would lug the car seat. could you get one of those folding trolley things so you can pull it and your luggage?

Or if you know anyone nearby could you borrow one for the few days?

You can buy a bag that has handles? We did that for the airport.

Just book a taxi with a car seat, surely?

Klouise777 · 05/10/2019 18:35

I didn't know you could book taxi with car seats? I assume not all carry them? Fil a cab driver and I've never seen one in his car but I'll check those portable options out thanks. Sadly no family with children there although never thought to ask around for any family driving that could perhaps take one

Book in advance and request a seat.

PotteringAlong · 05/10/2019 18:55

Of course you can! Ring a local cab firm, request a seat. If they can’t, call another.

JOIE seats are generally the most light weight, good value too. We have more expensive seats in our car but have a JOIE seat for each child for travel - we also bought a travel bag for them which handily has back-pack straps. I wouldn't use a trunki or any other booster for a two year old - no protection at all, might as well use nothing.
