If I swop my 16 month olds cot for a bed, what should I do about the camera cord?

Okay so... This morning I saw my 16 month old stick her leg over the cot.. I reckon if I hadn't flew straight in there she would have been able to climb out. Her cot is on the lowest setting and she's always been a good climber!

I've read that at this point you would need to transition them into a bed. That's fine, but I'm just wondering about her safety when it comes to the camera monitor plug in cord thingy... I feel like it could obviously be a choking hazard but the plug sockets are all low so what am I meant to do? Maybe just not have the monitor in there anymore?!

Don't bother with a camera monitor anymore. We had a sound only one because our dc were two floors away from us during the evening (they're in the attic)but we had a baby gate across the kids doors and the monitor the landing outside their rooms.

Could you put some furniture (eg chest of drawers or bookcase) in front of the plug socket and then the monitor goes on top with the wire tucked behind it (ideally down the middle so it’s not visible/ reachable)?

That’s what we did - obviously some kinds of furniture need to be strapped to the wall for safety too.

If your DC is a climber a camera monitor is helpful so that if you hear a thud you know whether to come running or not...!!

Cable clips? That's what we've done for our toddler and baby monitors

I'd just get rid of the camera tbh. Hope it goes well with getting her to sleep in the bed, ds is nearly there and I'm dreading it 🙈

Thanks for the tips so far! I think behind furniture is a good idea.. Although the only thing I could stick it behind is the chest of drawers and they will need to be fixed to the wall 🤔 hmmmm. Clips are a good idea also!

Ugh.. It's too early for this 😩

@LettuceP thanks! How old is your little one?

Why do you need a monitor?
make the bedroom child safe and fit a gate in the doorway.

@Morado he's 18 months and getting good at climbing. I'm holding off as long as possible 🤣

@Drabarni I like having the monitor. If she wakes up I can tell if she's going to go back to sleep by seeing what she's doing. If I went in to see her after every noise I might disturb her and prevent her from self settling. Plus she sits there talking to her teddies and gives them hugs and kisses which is SO CUTE! 😍

Wrap it around the leg of the bed
