Transporting a baby and toddler

I'm expecting my 2nd baby, and when he/she is born, my oldest will be almost 2 years old. This probably sounds like a stupid question but trying to work out what to get:

  1. A really good sling to put newborn in, and continue pushing toddler in pram
  2. A double buggy
  3. Neither- but not sure how far a 2 year old will be able to walk?
  4. One of those buggy boards- is a 2 year old too young for that?
  5. Go most places in the car, and save walks for weekends when there's 2 of us.. maybe get small fold up buggy for toddler

I had 4 under 4 and then 2 in 13 months... I would defo get a double pram, the slings are good but just for short journeys ( imo)
A newborn a 2 year old are stressful enough haha so I would get a double pram, saves trying to run round after 2 year old, I have a buggy board for my 3 year old which is great at times.

Slings will be good for walks also with a little fold up pram.

Or sling for shopping, 2 year old in trolley.

Get a double that converts into a single and a buggy board. That way you have the options and when 2yo gets bigger or doesn't want to be in pram for short journeys you have the buggy board. My ds was one of those mythical babies that hated a sling so it's unlikely I'll ever bother with one again!

I has a phil and Ted's brilliant first double I had, but didnt get a double for my 2 youngest dd 🤦‍♀️.

If he will only just be 2, I would get a double buggy for days out. My daughter is only just started to be able to walk any distance at 2.5 and even then we use buggy when going to places like the zoo or shopping centre where there are lots of people and lots of walking.
I would also get a sling for occasions where a double buggy will be a pain, e.g. supermarket shopping, toddler groups.

Definitely recommend a second hand double buggy. They are much much cheaper than new and often arent used for long as the older child grows out of needing it.

Definitely double buggy. I have an 18m gap, now currently 2.4 and 9m and I need the toddler strapped in as he runs off. He is a good walker but we do walk a lot and I don’t think he would manage it (even if he was compliant enough to walk where I want him to!) I personally find it really hard to push a single stroller while wearing a sling so much prefer a double. My baby isn’t keen on the sling anyway so it’s much less stressful this way.

I didn't get a buggy board for my 2.5 year age gap, my 2 year old just walked. But I would've bought one for an almost or newly turned 2 year old.
