hi,
im having problems changing dd's nappy. this is so lame and i feel an idiot posting it but....
shes 8 months now and every change as soon as i take the dirty nappy off, she throws herself onto her front and no matter how many times i roll her back she does it again making it virtually impossible to change her! do they all do this? i seem to remember that ds did it aswell but that was sooo long ago. apart from tying her down how else can i make it easier?

I found giving dd a book/toy helps as she focuses on that rather than what she wants to get at. Even now at 2 - she is a wriggle bum - and I just give her anything to look at from books to toys to junk mail!!

Ny dd does this and I end up pinning her down while I clean her and then letting her roll so that i put the nappy on upside down- getting quite good at that Should really be firmer I spose as she thinks its a really good game now. I do try and give her something to hol- shampoo bottle, clean nappy etc and that sometines works

We used pull ups and let our DS hang on to us when getting changed. He wouldn't keep still at all and there was plenty of occasions when he would crawl away when we we trying to change him.

Nightowl, don't feel lame. It's amazing how strong the little blighters are. My son is 9 months today and is getting a pro at escaping. Try mirrored glasses, funny hat, singing???

Def something for them to twiddle in their hands is good, or make up a game to play, eg. ds and I did the "where's....... teddy, Where's....fish?" game and he would have to look around for teddy or he'd watch my eyes exageratingly looking round.. Or you could try a sound game.. "What can you hear...is that a bird?" It's all about distraction. I must admit I give ds his milk cup whilst he's on his back (drinks it really quickly! haven't had a choking session yet (touch wood!!)) and I also keep a tub of raisins to hand and I put them on his tummy or forehead for him to find with his fingers.

BTW, my ds is now 15mo and I still have to use these tactics! Have to find a new game every month!
