Agh I’m sick of washing shitty clothes - is there a nappy that doesn’t leak?

We switched from Aldi nappies to Tesco + ones as DD pees like crazy. She’s weaning at the moment and teething so more poop but she keeps getting Poonamis so it’s going all up her back!

I’ve tried:
Aldi
Sainsbury’s
Lidl
Tesco

Is there an inexpensive nappy that’s absorbent enough but prevents shit going all up her back?

I do have reusable but had some problems with leaks so need to change the liners but I was going to wait until her poo is more solid before switching.

I use Little Rascals (Tesco stock them) and rarely have a leak.

Pampers baby dry. Use less so cost effective if buy on special offer.

Was using the leading brand for my DD since birth until about 6 weeks ago when she developed an allergy to them. I had to change brands so I tried supermarket own brands Fred and Flo & Nutmeg. Fred and Flo was just a joke..there would always be leaks ( it was more Spread and Flow all up her back and sides) and it didn't help with the allergy. Nutmeg helped with the allergy but also had quite a few leaks. Then i tried Rascal & Friends and it really helped with the allergy, and there were no leaks at all. Love it and will not change. There hasn't been a single leak yet and they claim to have no nasty stuff in them. They really fit well. No wetness indicator , but i can live with that. I try and get them when they are on offer, usually 2 for £9.

Resuseable really is the only way as the elastic at the back stops it all shooting upwards. It won't be the liner that causes leaks though it'll most likely be the fit if they're a decent brand.

BertieBotts · 23/09/2019 17:36

You need one with an elasticated back. I'm not familiar with current UK nappy brands so I can't tell you which do, but one should.

floravus · 23/09/2019 18:04

Definitely reusable, two parters are most reliable. We haven't had a single nappy leak in 8 months...

EleanorofCastile · 23/09/2019 18:09

Size up?
I’ve mostly always used Pampers but whenever this has happened have moved to the next size up so there is a bit more happy to absorb/cover.

Nightmanagerfan · 23/09/2019 18:12

How about disposable with a reusable wrap over the top? Blueberry Capri would be best as they are bomb proof - double gusset and elasticated back. I use them with a bamboo insert under a Sandy’s stay dry booster, and I’ve never had a leak, so chances are you’d be fine with a disposable underneath.

Celebelly · 23/09/2019 18:13

Reusables for sure. Haven't had a poop leak since we switched to them and we were having them daily before.

ZogorElmer · 23/09/2019 18:59

@Autumn2019 that’s what I meant- rascal and friends, not little rascals. I’ve found them really good as well!

Wheresmyenfys · 23/09/2019 19:49

Thanks all! I’ll try Rascals first and Pampers if I can get them on sale.

In relation to the reusables... I’ve got some littles and bloomz and some tots bots. I’m not massively keen on them but they were cheap. I’m hoping to switch to reusables again and maybe get some better brands

TotsBots are really good, particularly the Bamboozle night nappies and Peenut system. Little and Bloomz always leak for us but they are super cheap so I just carry a couple in changing bag for emergencies.

MrsMaow · 23/09/2019 20:18

I’ve always used asda and my 10 month old DD can pop like a champ but so far only 1 leak ever. They have an elasticated back which as PP mentioned seems to really help. And not as cheap as Lidl but close

MrsMaow · 23/09/2019 20:19

Poop not pop like a champ! Though she can indeed windypop like a champ too

30not13 · 23/09/2019 20:22

If the cloth ones you have are two parters (as in a seperate nappy then a wrap over the top) then for now try the wrap over the dispo?

TheJoxter · 23/09/2019 20:23

Put a cloth wrap (or empty pocket nappy if you haven’t got separate wraps) over the disposable and the elastic should keep leaks in

Slomi · 23/09/2019 20:25

Buy a size up, its the only thing that worked for my DD. Brand was irrelevant.

Toadsrevisited · 23/09/2019 20:26

Coop disposable or any cloth with a mother ease wrap

Wereonabearhunt · 23/09/2019 20:26

Rascal and friends 100%!

nopenotplaying · 23/09/2019 20:36

Go up a size they come higher up the back. Simon cowell style nappies are required 😂

YouBoggleMyMind · 23/09/2019 20:55

I second Pampers too but again, I'll only tend to buy them on offer... if not I use Aldi. I found I needed to trial sizes too. + sizes are extra absorbent. Other ones to try and Asda, Morrisons, Boots or Sainsbury's own.
