Vegetarian Baby Led Weaning Ideas

My little girl is 9 months & doing really well with her solids, although I'm running out of ideas for quick, healthy meals.

Just easy stuff for rushed days! Any ideas?

I used to slow bake bread and marmite into rusk type things. Toast, soft carrot sticks (boiled) potatoes, boiled or roasted, sweet potatoes...any fruit...I'd cook the harder ones.

Pasta...rice by the handful. Avocado.

Beans/eggs on toast, bagels and cream cheese, omelette, hummus and pittas/cucumber/carrot? Whatever you're having.

Look up Indian baby weaning as it tends to be low maintenance and uses the pressure cooker so can take minutes. Baby friendly steamed veg dhokla / Idli (without salt or bicarb), or spinach khichri are easy one pot meals which you can have too.

We just save a portion of our dinner and then DS has it heated up the next night for his.

Savoury muffins were a hit here for lunches as were sweet potato biscuits. I don't like egg but I imagine mini frittatas (sp?)would be good.

What do you eat? It's usually quite easy to adapt what you're eating for them. At 9 months old, she probably doesn't need the fist sized 'baby led weaning' food as she will be mastering picking things up. Quiche is good. I made a lentil stew that both of mine quite like (serve with bread and butter). Cheese quesadillas. Pasta obviously is an easy one. Mild curries with rice (these can just be scooped up with fingers).

Boiled eggs, soft for dipping or hard and sliced
Root veg roasted in sticks - butternut squash, swede, sweet potato etc
Pasta with cream cheese mixed through and peas
Peeled thin apple slices with peanut butter for dipping
Savoury (buckwheat) pancakes with cheese and spinach
Pizza pinwheels (the type with bread dough spread with tomato and cheese and rolled into Chelsea bun shapes) these freeze really well.
Cheesy mashed potato and vegetable fingers

I used this book for weaning DD. It's not actually baby led weaning as I couldn't get on with that at all and found it much easier to batch cook and then heat up a portion. We still use some of these recipes, especially the spag bol one.

I would second what others have said in that you can just give her whatever you're having within reason.

My DC always liked hummus and pitta/breadsticks, scrambled egg, homemade thick soup with bread/toast to dip, avacado dip or on toast, cheese on toast...

Hello 👋

I'm due to go back to work full time in January when my baby is 1 year old. I'd love to be able to stay home with her a bit longer, but I need to financially & have been offered a fantastic opportunity that I can't miss out on!

I'm obviously feeling really anxious about leaving my DD & concerned about how she will settle - particularly how she will nap... she's never been a great sleeper, but just started sleeping through & really don't to go backwards with it.

I just wondered how everyone else's babies got on when they went back to work full time?
