I'm just wondering if anyone has been or currently is a Lollipop agent. I'm thinking about it and wondered if it is worthwhile, how demanding it is with a young family and financially viable. I'd love to hear about anyone's experiences.

Sorry not one myself, but used them for DD's tots bots.
The agent I had said that she didn't earn a lot but she didn't mind as she did it for love.
Don't know if that helped any!

Hi laa, threads don't stay in active conversations for long these days, so bump it now and again and I'm sure you'll get more replies. I'd be interested to hear on this too!

Hi girls

I'm a Lollipop agent and love it, it's like being in a gang - we have our agents-only board where we all swap advice etc so we can give our customers quick responses on things we might not know ourselves.
Moneywise, you get out what you put in, I'd advise not spending your profits for the 1st year - invest them in extra samples and cashflow. Most of us are doing it to promote cloth and the money is a bonus, although there are some who have huge turnovers. We're all very ethically-minded and would never be pushy or take advantage of pg ladies or new mums.
You have to buy the sample kit but it is a lot of nappies at bargain price which you get to try out on your baby. This is the quickest way to become an expert on cloth which gives you confidence to sell.
Went to the Summer Conference Camp this year too which was great fun meeting other agents and kids and husbands enjoyed themselves too.
Any more questions, email me at [email protected]

Thanks oliviab. I'm still toying with the idea - how much time commitment do you put in? Is it an effort to actually find possibly interested people to talk to? i'm sure there's NCT groups etc. but where do the people you talk to come from - do you do lots of advertising? I'm not sure how it works really.

Word of mouth is the best lead which obviously takes time to build up. You get what you put in though - you can potter along at your own pace or you can go nuts and keep a spareroom full of stock! I'm lazy and do about 1 or 2 home demos a month but I know one brand new agent has already booked herself in to do public demos at her local toddler groups, Sure start, NCT events etc at least once a week until Xmas!
The idea is to do a general public demo and get leads for private ones where you can really give a personalised service.
It's as demanding as you want it to be - I started last year when my dd was 3m old and I'll take a couple of months maternity leave (mat allowance) in Feb when my ds is due. I wouldn't do anything that was too much hassle and real nappies is the first thing I've ever really been passionate about. I've made so many friends through it.
