First time potty trainer, is it worth continuing?

Hi, my dd is 2.7 and very good at communicating. Has been telling me about poo etc for ages. This morning we told her that we were going to potty train and she was excited. We put her in pants first thing and two hours later she wet herself. So she can hold it in but then not sure where to let it out. Anyway she must have had about 8 or 9 accidents during the day and 2 successes. I asked her when she went to bed if she wanted to do it tomorrow and she seemed very keen. I also want to give it another go where the weather is good and dh is on school hols. She has not been upset by having accidents and I'm sure it is good to keep trying but is it normal to start with such a small amount of success and how quickly do they usually get it? All the signs that she is ready are there (except for actually managing to do it!) Oh yes and I can't get her to just pee on the potty every half an hour because she just sits on it and then has an accident a few minutes later, she will only do it if she wants to! Very headstrong.

First day of potty training DS1 in May was a nursery day and we had agreed with them in advance.
They ask you to send a bag with 'millions' of pants/socks etc. When I went to pick him up they said he had 'only' done 3 accidents which they consider brilliant for a first day. The first two weeks each day was anything from 2 to 8 accidents a day, but each time he knew what he was doing and told us he needed the toilet most of the time. Sometimes he just didn't make it to the loo, other times he was distracted playing and wasn't used to the feeling of holding in wee yet.
It only took a couple of weeks. He still has the odd accident 2 months on but thats normal.
If she is just as keen tomorrow then stick with it, the weather is nice she can be outdoors maybe?
Good luck.

Can you let her run around with a bare bottom and keep the potty in the same room? Also, suggest she has a try every so often - maybe even read her a story while she sits or give her a drink of water. The longer she spends there (happily!) the more wees you will catch and this will encourage her and get her used to it. Good luck

I'd love to be able to let her run round naked and do outside but she has really squitty poo's and I don't want to risk a poo accident indoors. Lets just hope that the weather is good and she is in a good mood tomorrow.

Well..we encouraged her to use the potty regularly which she was surprisingly keen to do, she did lots of potty wee's and not too many down the leg wee's and when we went out for 2.5 hours she didn't have an accident which was great. I can't believe I even thought twice about continuing!
